I batch my tasks for greater efficiency. If I have to do 3 meetings in a week, I try my best to schedule them all in the same day. I check email only once a day. Check and go through regular mail only once a week. Do all my shopping, grocer

We can't always align our sense of empathy with our sense of humor. Ever seen comedy movies or sitcoms where all kinds of embarrassing things happen to the characters as a result of malicious outside forces?

This list is so predictable. Machievelli is better understood in the context of the history of political philosophy. Using him as some "self help" entrepreneurship guru won't get most people very far. But these are people who think Ayn Rand

It seems more like correlation than causation. A lot of ambitious people go to top schools so you also see them doing startups, but there are really no secrets they learn at those schools that give them an edge business-wise.

Bach. I find it perfect for coding because Bach is mathematically and algorithmically beautiful so it gets the mind working in those ways. I find IDM, electronica to work pretty well too. Autechre, for instance.

I've only been a programmer by trade for a couple years so I don't know very much yet, but could someone please enlighten me: what does the platform have to do with how difficult a problem is? I thought platforms, languages, etc. were just

You make some good points. Before I started doing meditation, I often practiced the kind of introspection you are describing. I still do sometimes, but not as much as before. I find that it really does help in gaining a sense of self and it

I mostly agree with roqetman's definition and I will add that my definition of introspection extends to the analysis of one's self in general. Analyzing oneself is often fraught with self-deception as we can only analyze ourselves using cat

Unless you are using it toward creating some kind of masterpiece work of art, introspection is highly overrated. I used to spend a lot of my time introspecting and while it is good once in awhile, too much of it will just make you stuck in

I think a fantastic example of this startup/hip hop analogy is Cash Money records, which started very low budget and applied the "release early and often" philosophy.

You are right, I don't know that, so while I can't falsify the anti-amphetamine claim in a rigorous scientific way, I can still point out that not all amphetamine users are spending their late night tweaking sessions on mindless tasks. That

The great logician and mathematician, Alfred Tarski, was an amphetamine user. As well as great sci fi writer Philip K. Dick. So, in vulgar Popperian fashion, I declare the theories in your posts to be falsified!

Bullying seems to be the only form of cruel violence in which the victims are told to "forgive and forget" and stop being "whiny." Would the same "get over it" sentiment exist if this article was about having been sexually assaulted by high
