makr actually came out of D ... we started by trying some completely different features, but figured it was best for both to try them as separate things. Lots of people like D the way it is, so we spun it out into it's own thing.

The Geo and citizen journalism angle I think makes these guys really unique. Also, its just really really fast and easy to start streaming. When it is that easy, you start living streaming everything.

I don't really feel like 'going after Pinterest'. Makr is more about helping people MAKE new things, not just endlessly re-pin and reblog. Certainly some UI things work on Pinterest, but what we are enabling people to do is quite differen
