It certainly makes it easier to install it on jolla, as far as conspiracy theories are concerned.

Not really a gamble -- you usually can find reliable info about Linux support on the internet, provided that the device is not too exotic.

AI is such an abused word that no one really knows what it is supposed to mean. Probably "automation" or "soft computing" are more accurate, but lack the cool factor.

You can have a daemon (tup monitor), but it is not required; in the second case tup will compare last-mod times of files with those from the last run (stored in the .tup dir).

To be fair, free R+CRAN is also capable of all that stuff, not to mention that it can be easily compiled with ICC using MKL (provided that one has a license for them, but most academias have).

Thumbs up for not using rand, but the assuming that MT is a golden bullet is not exactly scientific; one should just test few RNGs, it may come in that the code exploits some ultra-hidden hole in MT or that some much faster RNG works equall

On the other hand, the more system is loaded without user input the greater chance that it can be exploited; also filesystem-level encryption leaks some meta information.

That is a very good feature because forcing user to perform mentally demanding operation to dismiss the alarm decreases the risk of falling back to sleep (;

Fan is (y-50)/(x-50)+time/5, sin is to add texture. Multiplying x by cos and y by sine of the same frequency would simply rotate the fan centre around top right corner, slightly off periods (19 and 21) degenerate that circle into

Reasonable UI systems and not-overdesigned programs respect your UI font size setting and scale the rest accordingly, while equal resolutions allow hinting to do its job and produce a sharp output in an intelligent way. The brute-force appr

Sure; in R strings are copied way more frequently than created, so it pays off.

As a curiosity, global string cache is an old feature of R -- however strings are matched upon creation rather than detected by the GC.

Float operations are actually precise, the catch is that floats are not real real numbers.

Because with R you can and usually do multiple things with multiple data sources within one session, which effectively dissolves the start-up and load time. Even if reading one file and calculating mean or something with a single script is

Blackboard is for the lecturer; it is easier to write formulas or draw diagrams interactively than with any digital tool. Plus the size; you can dump a lot of information without having to scroll anywhere.

That is not fair; you count R's start-up time and all the guesswork which read.table does and datamash doesn't have to do.

Does yours detect which part of the full-text is an author name, which is journal and which is publication date (mind the reference section present in practically every paper)? Does it index the notes you made on them?

The biggest problem with just writing some actual JS is a poor compatibility; when you try to generalise some one-liner working in a cutting edge browser you usually end up with a small library, plus the process is pretty painful. Thus thos

Actually it is a pretty dirty hack -- it seems ok because the flat design is currently popular. But quite likely gradients and shadows will come back in a few years and then few single-color layers won't be enough.
