I’d be happy if you could explain more, but the edges here are intentionally unweighted, so I believe the algorithm is correct. It’s based on the description here: http://weblog.jamisbuck.org/2011/1/10/maze-ge

A related tool I’m working on is a visual debugger for topology construction. You can see an example here showing California state and county boundaries: http://bost.ocks.org/mike/topology/debugger.html You can zo

The “document” here refers to the W3C Document Object Model (DOM): the hierarchy of HTML or SVG elements that comprises a webpage. And “data” refers to arbitrary JavaScript data structures, like an array of numbers or a parsed CSV file. So,

Jason’s work here is so exciting because it demonstrates another path to escape the tyranny of Mercator’s projection. Using reprojection on the client, you can take any Mercator tile source (that’s nearly all of them) and refit it to a proj

There’s an easter egg of sorts in that you can run the shown code snippets in the JavaScript console, and the results in the console will match the shown diagrams. This is thanks to careful inclusion of off-screen elements. It would be fun

Good catch! It appears I just introduced the bug here, by eliminating recursion: https://github.com/mbostock/queue/commit/7bd5059bb2c0a94c0ca... Popping multiple synchronous tasks after an asynchronous one is fairly rare, but I’ll make su

This is great! Thank you for the code review. One of the aspects of Google culture that I enjoyed the most were the asynchronous, detailed code reviews. Knowing that someone you look up to will pore over every line of code encourages you to

Not to focus too myopically on the given example, but I can’t help but wonder why it’s a requirement that the first file be handled specially? A less contrived example would make the argument more convincing. If I wanted to compute the size

Yep! I wrote about Make because it's what I use and it's the most ubiquitous. But aside from the section on syntax, the post applies to nearly any build system. (And as another poster mentioned, other build systems might offer advantages ov

As mentioned in the post, take a look at TopoJSON's topology-preserving simplification: https://github.com/mbostock/topojson/wiki TopoJSON's --simplify flag uses Visvalingam's algorithm. And, since it's the mesh that is simplified rather

Hey, that's fantastic. Thank you for the feedback. I can see how you would need to raise TopoJSON's quantization level for creating zoomable geometry; the default level is designed for display approximately 10,000px by 10,000px, and you'd q

Jason didn't change the projection; Jason used a better interpolator (following great arcs rather than linear interpolation of angles as I was doing). The projection looks flat because it's an orthographic projection rather than a perspecti
