How are shopping malls paragons of bureaucracy? Paragons of shallow consumerism, if anything... and while the DMV et all are surely dehumanizing and Kafkaesque, the mall is a special and unique sort of revolting to me. But different strok

I hope they're dying - malls are miserable places to spend time.

Yeah but you can legally appeal to government regulations. What recourse do you have with Airbnb? Writing a blog post?

Right, but the regulations do tend to grant the customers some sort of protection in the face of this sort of behavior, which is the whole argument in favor of financial regulation. That said, I did smile and chuckle at your response :)

Some percentage of the workforce essentially manages to not-get-fired and little else. I don't necessarily think that's a rationalization about a specific hiring circumstance, rather that it's a fairly general observation th

The number of page hits the article gets? Come on - Bitcoin is news, and it's been made news by people like us. Don't be too surprised or appalled when the general media tries to latch on to the publicity train.

It's a bit sad that we keep reading these articles and keep falling into the same trap of rush-to-defend-your-favorite-language and rush-to-complain-that-your-favorite-language-was-omitted. I find these articles seldom thought-provoki

Very cool! This has been, in my experience, a factor limiting the use of GUI editors in places with a heavy emphasis on remote pairing. Of course not everyone does this, but if you work someplace that does, this is a big selling point. I

Hmm, I remember having this issue with RHEL also, but I thought it was fixed in maybe tmux 1.8... although I could certainly be wrong.

That is a very reasonably response, and I certainly wouldn't push the idea that pair programming is great for everyone. It definitely works better for people with a particular personality type, and worse for people with other personal

That is very true, but there's still an enormous chasm for your average person between being mostly-law-abiding (I'm not counting things like jaywalking or going 5mph over the limit) and participating in drug sales, which could la

There's a difference between supporting a free and peaceful drug trade and participating in a very-much illegal drug trade. It's possible to be a hemp-wearing, tree-hugging hippie and be pro-death penalty - it also happens to be

I wish he had left that out, only because it was obviously going to lead to lots of reactions like this. Pair programming, at least on HN/reddit, is a fairly polarizing issue. I'm in favor of it, but plenty of folks aren't,
