You are 100% correct. I was a senior in college and my beater died. I went to the Mazda dealer and talked them down to $13k on a brand new Mazda3. My payment was like $280. Now inflation adjusted that is supposedly just shy of $22k. But it’

I agree. You should do your best to know what a realistic comp profile is for the role you are applying for BEFORE you apply. This is much easier nowadays with all the information available online. Assuming you know the rough range for the

My brother in law just got diagnosed with Glioblastoma yesterday. He’s only 31. Sadly I don’t think we are winning fast enough for him or people in his situation.

I particularly enjoy Rock Auto’s website as well. Absolutely no BS. It dumps you right onto the list of car makes.

My first thought was this is cool. My second thought was that this is going to be impossible to securely manage and administer.

After 40+ years of life experience I understand why some people fall to their knees daily and beg for mercy. If getting champagne or a latte or whatever is enough to scratch your itch I applaud you. I envy you.

I already told my wife and family this is going to be a dramatically pared back summer. Try not to get laid off. Try not to die. Try to not sow the seeds of your own demise.

There are probably Youtube economists that have a better track record than “professionals”. Same for “man on the street” style YouTubers.

I agree. They always seem so tone deaf and robotic. Like you could get an email letting you know someone died and the prefill will be along the lines of “damn that’s crazy”.

I worked for a very large industrial some years ago. Our leaders were so ate up with the VR hype that they greenlit a VR training experience for field technicians wherein the technician would wear a VR headset and then use a virtual iPad to

Yeah, the whole "decapitation strike" talking point betrays a serious bias. It also implies something which no evidence is provided for. The idea that foreign actors got someone elected, then managed to get that person to implemen

65 doesn’t seem that old anymore. Sad to hear. Have read many anecdotes over the years of him being a generally cool guy and very generous with his time when dealing with fans.

If they implement this in a way similar to the package visibility changes your list of JVM args is about to explode in order to support legacy apps.

Hard to disagree. You would think for a company obsessed with performance per watt and battery life that every release would be as fast if not faster that its predecessor and more efficient to boot.

Been in the industry for 20 years. Things are always up and down. Honestly I prefer the leaner times. Less clowns trying to cash in and more focus of engineering value, as it should be. I absolutely cannot stand how many people are employed

I bought one of the first 2012’s available in the US. Flew out to St. Louis to pick it up. It was a very cool car. Drew way too much attention for my taste. And it was very unrefined in many ways that I didn’t expect. It was a special car,

In my experience LLMs do this kind of thing with enough frequency that I don’t consider them as my primary research tool. I can’t afford to be sent down rabbit holes which are barely discernible from reality.
