I do understand the sentiment. However I do think there is something to be said for maintaining good habits all or most of the time. It’s kind of like saying I eat trash all time, but when I need to get in shape, I can stick to a diet. Easy

Lex Fridman had Jim Keller on his podcast and they talked about his time at Tesla and his work on auto pilot and autonomous driving in general. Keller was so cavalier about the solvability of self driving. I was wondering how much of Elon’s

Here in SW Ohio I’m not sure there ever was an abundance of rich topsoil. I have 5 acres which has never been farmed and the native soil is dense, sticky clay. It is hard to get anything other than weeds to grow in it. Yet the corn farms ar

You are absolutely right. This lackadaisical attitude towards their games was present in CS:S as well. Security, gameplay, performance. All of it takes a back seat to milking the cow.

Two suggestions 1. Get a role inside a large org. Like Fortune 50 large. They are starved for talent and generally love people that can code but also have a broader view of things. You will see many 50+ year old people in these orgs still c

I just use the debugger and it mostly works how I expect. I don’t have to go and study the data structures and other intricacies of the debugger itself to puzzle out why it works the way it does. Git is terrible in that way, as evidenced by

Am I the only person that doesn’t want to understand the inner workings of my VCS in lurid detail? I don’t have to know as much about any other developer tool in order to use it effectively.

I agree on the endless overseas misadventures. As far as the economics go, the government makes it easy to crush the blue collar working class. I do not fault the business for doing what they do when the government makes it so very easy for

While I do agree that the system has many opportunities for improvement, the idea that the vast majority of the people “in the system” can be rehabilitated is comical. Most people that can be rehabilitated have their run in with the law and

Interesting twist on a Wankel style design. It looks like the apex seals are moved to the block rather than rotor. I’m also curious as to the benefit/drawback of having the flow of intake and exhaust perpendicular to the rotor.
