I noticed that too. The tools principle dovetails with "Use a superior development system". Infocom's game building tool (the ZIL compiler) was originally a PDP-10 program. LucasArts developed many games using the SCUMM suite

If you don't have to work from home, pair programming or just working next to someone with an agreement to keep each other honest could help a lot. Also (again if you're in an office with others), put your back to the door so pass

Almost all Objective-C APIs can be accessed from Swift. (The one exception I know of is that a type which is a class with protocol conformances, e.g. `UIViewController<UIPickerViewDataSource>`, cannot be represented exactly in Swift.

You could pre compile the script with osacompile if you want, but I wouldn't bother. I think checking the command runtime would be a mistake. If you expect the command to take a long time, and it finished in just a second or two, you p

Strange that Apple didn't publish it on https://github.com/apple (which holds all of their open Swift repos). Also, to clarify, ANS is relatively new (2009) but arithmetic coding has been around for a long time. Histor

The stuff announced last week is mainly of interest to developers, not end users. Most of what was in the keynote was for end users. That said, I'd be surprised if they couldn't fit last week's stuff into the Platforms State

To be fair (regarding "closed tech"), Apple was hardly the only one to release a propriety Vulkan alternative (there's also Mantle and DX12) and Apple released Metal to developers almost two years before Vulkan 1.0 was releas

That it can be done on a Raspberry Pi using the Pi camera is of interest, because cheap small hardware makes it feasible to buy and install hardware dedicated to the task.
