Except for the one day restriction. If all spam was nicely confined to one day, I'd probably be ok with it.

This isn't all about the Ivy's recruitment. I am from a small (10k population) town in Mid Missouri and currently an MIT student. In my graduating class of 150 there were maybe 6 that went out of state and only a couple that didn't go to a

I used a small regional bank until recently and they had both a small (might be 8, I can't remember) character limit and stored them in plaintext. When I was emailed my current password after having to reset it, I left.

Barely a notice? I'd say this is noticed quite a bit compared to other world powers being dismantled. Every random civil libertarian with a blog will be able to point to their blog and say "I saw this coming." Sure, many people probably not

MIT CS class (6.047) I just took had a mix between course notes and a textbook. It started as a compilation of course notes and then each year, was improved by the class. During each lecture, one or more people were assigned to update the r

I would guess it's similar, but I know people back home in mid MO (not quite KC) that pay less in rent than long term parking I see advertised in Boston.

Not sarcastic: People laugh when they hear a "racist" joke because it's funny. Maybe race related jokes don't have a place at conferences and work places - I am not sure - but there should be room for jokes about race somewhere, right? I me

Same argument, more context. If I go to the store, pay with my AmEx to buy a DVD, then bring it home and pirate the show because I don't want to go through the process of ripping it to watch on my computer sans TV, it's the same thing since

So let's say I pay for netflix, then pirate the show anyway because it's easier for me to use than netflix. Any problem there? They released the whole thing at once, so as long as I watch it within this month, it's the same on their end as

"Reform or we'll release this incriminating stuff." Clearly, the better way to get them to reform is to release the incriminating material and have a scandal about it. If it's really bad enough to be worth this headline, it'll do a lot more

I'm reaching the end of my knowledge, but I would guess that there's a good tradeoff between reducing the number down to 2% vs culling down to the "best" remainder. You also give your immune system more time to catch up and take car of the

On the last bit, resistance isn't a binary switch. If you assume a spectrum, then day 1 kills all the really easy bacteria. By day 4 of 8, you've killed the 85% most killable bacteria, and your symptoms are gone, so you stop. Then you have

More unlikely is not 0, and you don't want to skip all the mid points and create the super bug in one treatment. Probably safe if you do this now and then, but not if it's the SOP for antibiotics. No idea if that's why they don't do it. Sid

I'd say it's even more counterproductive then. No one at mit hadn't heard of the scandal at this point, but a few people's minds might get changed on hacktivists in general. Putting up the messages on those department sites won't inconvenie
