I've used Toxiproxy to reproduce so many issues that I can't be thankful enough to authors for this awesome tool! I also found a docker based UI to adding toxics I just wish it ships out of box or as another binary/brew packa

I would love to learn a little more here. So for 30 second tail latency cases, doesn't Ruby HTTP client support a timeout with cancellation? The only useful case where I believe Async Ruby can help is the parallel requests cases. Discl

Intel is gonna be in deep trouble in couple of years. They are the PowerPC of modern era. IDK what held them back from reimagining the architecture for less power hungry processors and tooling. With Mac mainstream switching to ARM and Micro

Congratulations to the team. It’s rewarding to make it through, but don’t make the product shittier just because you are big now.

How is Cloudflare gonna coup up the price? These numbers are too good to be true (Sorry I am naive in how egress pricing works).

I don’t agree with this. Right now writing a basic LRU cache requires casting gloop in your code. The issues (specially 2 & 3) in article are manageable. But generics are genuinely holding me back from writing reusable code.

I converted from MySQL (before whole MariaDB and fork), and I've been happier with every new version. My biggest moment of joy was JSONB and it keeps getting better. Can we please make the connections lighter so that I don't have

Guilty of buying but worth every penny! I don’t think Google should be given enough liberty to track what I am reading and what deep links I am visiting.

C# was my first exposure to async/await back in 2015 and I initially had trouble wrapping my head around various details (i.e. ConfigureAwait etc.). I think the languages that have done best job in removing all that detail are Go and E

The fact that there is more discussion here vs the Haskell forum is weird. I've not used Haskell myself but aspire to use it someday. I wish him best of luck!

A database without any test harness? While this could be a good toy or PoC I would never use it in production. Readers should be aware, just because it's on HN doesn't mean it's production ready.

At risk of sounding idiot and down votes. Can you explain me when was the last time you saw the itemized breakdown of a toy, or a T-Shirt you bought in Target/Walmart? Same is true for Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox systems. Why do we think

Agreed. The development plans, break big tech, taxing, and other political stunts are useless if foundational issues around education and healthcare are not addressed.

Now I am gonna have an outage because co-pilot wrote some code that had an error. People have implicit bias of code being reliable that they don't write, StackOverflow snippets are perfect example for that.

I don’t really mind paying few bucks for privacy. But I think Apple in the process is gonna kill a lot VPN providers. While I don’t care right now I hope it doesn’t make Apple a monopoly.

I’ve already moved to Kotlin. I love the language other than the fact that JVM objects are just too heavy. Nothing against Java but language has aged like milk, the readability and writability is just too bad. Recent strides with records an
