I think drivers are fine with causing a certain amount of risk to pedestrians. Strong, predictable penalties would lower the typical risk level drivers were willing to subject pedestrians to. It’s not binary, it’s a distribution and I do be

Deterrence clearly would be served from drivers predictably knowing that causing pedestrian fatalities would lead to jail time.

AFAIK, the only nuclear rocket that makes sense is landing a reactor on an icy comet and using it to shoot super heated steam wherever you want thrust. #seveneves

True. But if you replace the Hohlraum with dilithium and find an anti-matter supply you can power a warm drive for FTL travel. Just need to kick it now and then.

Second this. pnpm's use of hard links is so perfect for monorepos. As far as your code knows they just have a normal, run of the mill node_modules but without the massive hit on speed and disk space.

This is all assuming that Russia doesn't resort to nuclear, biological, or chemical attack. In a conventional war, its true. NATO, or the US alone, or even some individual NATO members on their own, would cakewalk over Russia faster t

I've always felt that we should 5x-10x the salaries (Singapore style) of federal elected officials and cabinet secretaries but require them to divest their entire portfolio within 30 days of taking office and only hold securities issue

In the past you could have made an argument about foreign airlines not being held to FAA standards. But today, FAA knows exactly which jurisdictions regulate airlines to a comparable standard and which don’t. Denying cabotage and other hi

In other words, regulations that increase the costs of building housing increase the costs of housing. Funny how that works.

There are some services (cloudfront for example) which require this region. Its not that much harder to have multiple regions in your deployment but putting everything in one is simpler for smaller startupy orgs.

Governments are good at pure science, research, and individual technologies. They are not good at making products. That is fundamentally where private companies have a massive advantage.

Actually moon water can be quite valuable. Because it requires so much less energy to escape lunar gravity, if you have water, and if you can split it into hydrogen and oxygen, you can make a very effective gas station for rockets going to
