Every time I've had a fraudulent charge on my account, I've contested it and had the money returned to me. I can only assume that in some cases the bank simply bites the bullet and writes this off as a cost of doing business. Ther

This can't possibly be legal or even technically feasible. The victim can call her bank and report a fraudulent transaction, which pits the bank against a warrantless seizure that's impossible to defend in court. Surely banks can

I'm upper middle class, and I can already barely afford to live in this country. What we need isn't more taxes but a more judicious use of taxes that are already being levied. An effective and workable UBI scheme would replace all

For many people Scala offers the same concurrency model in the form of actors without having to change runtimes/ecosystems. Go seems to have been too little too late for too few people; released a few years before Scala reached maturit

Considering the limited time you have available, I would suggest learning Rust as a means of getting more bang for your buck. Go offers very little over other similar languages, whereas Rust will yield copious food for thought and will chan

My childhood was anything but nirvana. I'll spare you the sob story about growing up in 1990s Russia because it's unoriginal and water under the bridge. It's also irrelevant to this thread because I read The Guide as an adult

My personal impression is that a reader steeped in soul-crushing dysfunction in his or her daily life will enjoy The Guide with gusto not achievable by those whose lives resemble nirvana.

Is this a position you've explicitly applied for? Unsolicited letter bearing a job offer with dollar amount included sounds illegitimate to say the least.

There are some much nicer and more fun, also arguably less destructive, pranking options: - text-to-speech output based on a definitive history of elevators - same for an exhaustive safety lecture that'll probably horrify some guests -

Just another symptom of ad hoc constraint enforcement that can't happen in a language without a type system.

Ha! I did something similar to track time in JIRA's work logs. Changing a branch == context switch => new work log boundary. Those were fun times.

JIRA needs a solid CLI tool. I wrote something like this at one of my past companies that has gone batshit crazy about agile. The process weighed so heavily on me that I felt the need to automate it via JIRA's REST API, which yielded (

As @elcapitan said, licensing is the same as for software. Fonts are intellectual property (IP), just like most other intangible products of R&D. It is too bad, of course, and my usual opinion about IP applies. However, we don't li
