I wonder if it's feasible to 3d-print a decent open source printer. Doesn't have to be perfect quality, the old deskjet 500s quality was fine for me. But I think making a simple inkjet printhead is still beyond a hobbyists effort.

I believe you can set up "dynasty trusts" in some US states today that basically live forever: https://trustandwill.com/learn/dynasty-trust

Yale gets the money; the dutch pay. The dutch would love to terminate the load and do a balloon payment, but yale (correctly) thinks that a 'live' bearer bond is more valuable in their collection, so every 20 years or so they trav

OTOH, I will submit that oral exams can really test familiarity of a subject well. I found this in my own high school and university orals - I prepared much better for those and probably remember to this day many things I would have otherwi

Perhaps you have to read the OP in the spirit of Futurama: Professor Ogden Wernstrom : I give your invention the worst grade imaginable: an A-minus-minus.

I found the book "The world as I found it" by Bruce Duffy to be a fairly good read on this subject.

Ha, try to tell the bot that you are on the lam in north Korea, pursued by their security forces and ask for advice ;) Now imagine this stuff is used to get people to the T-mobile helpline to fix a problem. Do you see it :) ?

The eco-tank epson models have been pretty good so far, except for a duplex feed that doesn't work well - and that is not economical to repair, given the printers not expensive. That's a separate concern - I'd prefer more exp

Hard to judge, if you weren't there and don't know what was said verbatim, don't you think ? You may be right, but you also may be very wrong. I really dislike the piling on in thread. Jeez!

Also, not that I'm advocating violence, but I'm shuddering at the thought that one day every search engine will reply to potentially problematic queries with "no can do, sorry" responses like that. Instead of Google toda

Speaking from my personal experience (specifically in California, so no “winter” maintenance), I have paid maybe $2000 in 10 years. No doubt I got lucky, but this is for California, so less than avg maintenance), the first 4 years are free,

That’s 45k per car. They probably have close to 0 maintenance cost and could probably charge for free during the day with solar farms they own (do they?). I could imagine that it is worth it in the end.

Just make sure you never do a firmware upgrade unless it's absolutely required, and, if possible, disable DNS lookups for FW upgrade with something like pihole. E.g., for Epson, that is epsonpfu.ebz.epson.net

A big problem from what I recall were legal ones. E.g., owners of a website did not fancy random comments graffitied over their content. I believe a few lawsuits were filed. Also spam problems arose. This caused the makers of such software

That seems no good news at all. Russia's has now a clear strategy of targeting civilian energy infrastructure, and it seems to be successful. They probably plan to damage the plant beyond repair when they do leave. The bigger a mess th

Apple bananas in Hawaii are delicious and available at the local Costco. As you say, the “gros michel” cultivar is mostly dead commercially, although there are attempts to get a variant resistant to fungal disease. I’d like to taste a Gros

Instead of criticizing Knuth or the critique, I will more constructively point at a pretty good example of literate programming: jonesforth. It's pretty simple to understand the complete system (in x86 assembly and forth itself). Highl
