Wow, you are completely wrong on that. RMS was so blatantly wrong that even he had to back track on his views.

Again this is "lesser" in terms of an offer I would expect from F&G. Not lesser in terms of a person. You're taking this personal for some reason. I'd stop engaging now, best of luck at Amazon !

You asked my experience and I told you with a disclaimer. You clearly aren't interested in it, rather than some platitudes like "everyone is the same". Again, I have no personal grudge against you or NCSU or other state schoo

Given a choice would you not have picked MIT over NCSU ? The CS program there is quite amazing as well as the opportunity to meet other smart people and minor in a plethora of courses.

Assuming TC means Total Comp yes thats way lower than what Facebook and Google pay. Over 4 years salary + stock / 4 + signing / 4 is what I count as TC. Also no food and the horrendous equity vest schedule just makes Amazon lag be

Sure, MIT grads knew many general CS and systems concepts more in depth than their NCSU counterparts. They would also finish their artifacts way faster than the NCSU grads. This is just anecdata and may or may not reflect the average grad q

Top universities have top funding and research that if it meets top talent can be extremely useful for the world.

I've worked with both MIT and NC State grads and in all 3 cases MIT was far ahead. Now whether it was the CS program that was better or the raw smarts of the grads or both, I don't know.

I'm not here to help you with your pay research. Just telling you my experience. There are many threads on Reddit and stats on levels.fyi to compare your offer with others. You clearly like being on-call and seem to be happy with your

They could have saved Earth and you would find a fault. This is a great initiative, but you're criticizing about not "open sourcing" it. Google open sources plenty of things. The solution maybe heavily coupled to their infras

My problem is with any issue or article about these companies is not evaluated on merit. It's all conflated with one or the other issue. There are many people happy at these companies as well and some who really like the culture.

Again you don't need to remember or forget this. Big O is worst case , theta is always guaranteed bound, Omega is minimum bound. My point is call them whatever, just know the concept to help you make design decisions.

It kind of feels wrong when dynamically typed languages add "hinting". It means they admit that strongly typed is the way to go. Edit: typo statically typed

Any one working on any sort of back end infra needs to know this. Ask yourself how a simple webserver can process multiple incoming requests efficiently ? Or an app wants to do a network call without blocking it's UI from being updated
