Good article. I'd add one more bit, though: it's not between youth and old; it's between risk takers and risk avoiders. The last thing the majority dreams about is risk. So the gov takes care and tries to minimize the risk. The minimum wage

Hardware level trojan is relatively hard to develop. I mean, it depends on what do you mean as a trojan. I think it is entirely possible to create a hardware trojan that sends some packets somewhere. It'd make a neat DDoS. :-) Less likely i

It doesn't have to be active, it might be passive. A small bug in the networking chipset that crashes the machine with a given packet... ;-) It would be used only once. Like the nuclear weapon.

Replying to myself, but I don't want to edit the former comment. I think that iPod is the excellent case study for what the innovation actually is. From the technical standpoint, iPod is a garbage. I mean, less space than a nomand, lame. iP

It depends how you understand the innovation. I don't say that Mac OS X has significantly changed since 2001. Please read carefully. I mean Apple as a whole. They do a lot of innovation. iPhone literally revolutionized the way we interact w

Microsoft wouldn't be worth discussing, if not their role on the market. I mean, they were once innovative and now they're just plain stupid. Like many companies in the past, their success is slowly killing them. The real problem, though, i

I'm used to the command line interfaces. It is not that I need a GUI tool. I do not. It's just that, after a year, I'm still not 100% sure that I understand what every git command does. There's still something under the hoods going on that

Everyone I know seems to have. :-) Personally, I'm a bit disgusted with the git hype. I love the git idea but the interface is horrible.

The same seems to happen with learning languages, and generally, learning. It's much harder to learn something drastically new as an adult, as you don't have free time, you perceive a year as a short milestone etc.

The reason is that such thing not existed. It had to be written, and it's really standard stuff. Also, by the way, but I'm unable to download this, and there are no tests for this, as well as it clearly breaks the XHTML/JavaScript conventio

The framework is its ecosystem, too. I agree that Rails shouldn't include this in the core. Regardless, I don't have to write this code, core or not core. That's the problem. It really adds up if you have to spend time on such small stuff.

It is not a matter of choice. There are better web frameworks, as well as there are better tools for some tasks. Seriously, I'm not saying that Rails is better than Django. I'm sure there's a set of tasks where Django is much more better at

That's one of the reason why I can't stand Django anymore, being Rails programmer for few years. FYI, Rails' mail_to supports similar mechanism for years.

Combine this with p0f ( http://lcamtuf.coredump.cx/p0f.shtml ), some basic machine learning and you're all doomed. By the way, browsers are generally scary thing. What about using the browser's cache for tracking? http://joshduck.com/blog/

There's nearly always a filesystem. It is not visible on iPad, though. I talk only about usability and user's perspective. No need to go into details. From the hackerish perspective, the internals of iPad might be nothing but BSD/Mach combi

You have to have a filesystem for this, though. At least, if you download from some random source, w/o any official application. From what I see, there's no classical filesystem on Apple iPad - just per application resources - so it won't w
