Hi. Please take my oppinion with a grain of salt, as I might be biased since I'm a founder at a competing service. In recent years, there was a significant amount of startups/bootstraped companies that tried to make application de

Have a look at https://stacktape.com . It removes the complexity behind AWS and allows you to deploy applications with zero DevOps. It also allows you to fully leverage your AWS free tier. You can deploy containers, lambda functi

I like the idea behind this project. While designing https://stacktape.com , we were discussing a similar approach. But we eventually decided to go with a lower-level, more standard one. If I remember correctly, most potential us

What you just described is the exact same reason I started working on https://stacktape.com 3 years ago. When doing the market research, I talked to ~150-200 companies (mostly SMBs). Everyone was trying to "do DevOps".

Thanks a lot for the answer! We have clarified what the "resources" are. Every application (stack) deployed by Stacktape consists of multiple underlying AWS services (resources). For example a database instance, IAM role, auto-sca

I'm not from Czech republic, but I know the country pretty well (living in Slovakia). Absolutely nothing you're describing about the new Czech government is true. They are not populistic (like governments in Brazil or Hungary).

I would definitely suggest Prague, Czech Republic. The city is beautiful. Climate is great. Low taxation (especially if you're self-employed). Cost of living is way better than in Germany. Quality of food, healthcare and public service

This is exactly what Stacktape does. For example, the "HTTP API Gateway" resources has 0 required properties you need to configure. We have sensible defaults for everything. We also try to automatically infer as many things as pos

Hello, thanks for a very valuable opinion. I'm just now starting to realize the mistake I've made when coming up with the "Heroku-like experience" headline. I meant it's similarly easy, not that it's PaaS. Stac

Hello. Sure, I understand your point. Stacktape is not exactly a "PaaS in your cloud". Similarly to serverless framework, it works on the developer's machine (or on a CI/CD server). You don't have to "install i

I'm not sure, if we, as a humanity, can do much here. You have 2 choices: - Use a "0-config" solution. You sacrifice control, efficiency and a lot more. - You write configuration. In my opinion, the best language for configur

Interesting idea. We will think about it and see what we can do. It's not the most requested feature, but I do agree that is solves a huge paint point. Also, maybe some of you big data use-cases could be handled by a custom batch job?

I'll be very happy if you give Stacktape a try and let me know if there's something you're missing (or something that dotCloud did better).
