Because people generally fail upwards. Take for example a poor developer who keeps breaking things. It can actually be difficult to get rid of someone. So the company instead makes him a low level manager (no longer directly touching code).

Do nothing unless he asks or talks to you. I regularly take a look at what developer roles are on offer. It doesnt mean I want to leave my job. I use it as a way to see what companies are using what technology.

I don't really get what your on about here. You are talking about loving python and that python 3 is a problem without actually listing what your problems are with it (have you used python 3.3 (its good)). Is it that adoption is slow?

1. There are a number of predefined contracts which can be used on the internet. Obviously the best thing to do is get a lawyer to look over what ever you choose.
