I'm saying something different, that the most impressive examples of AI breakthroughs are doing things that humans find hard / are bad at. Meanwhile there are many things that people find easy / do without thinking / can

AI is getting quite good at a lot of things humans consider fairly difficult (like this example) but has made less progress at things humans consider fairly easy (e.g. maintaining consistency across paragraphs of text for GPT3, navigating 3

Nanite is a software rasterizer running as a compute shader on the GPU though, it still requires the power of a GPU but takes advantage of the increased flexibility of modern GPUs.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. It seems like most of the big tech companies are having a hard time putting the genie back in the bottle with remote work as enough of their employees seem to prefer it that they can't re

Is the issue that you want a job where everyone else is also required to be 100% on site? I'm assuming that most "2 day per week" companies would be ok with you coming in 4 or 5 days a week but because most of your coworkers

I've been doing remote VR development since before the pandemic. Remote to me doesn't mean exactly "could be done with an internet connection and a laptop". I'm not interested in a digital nomad lifestyle but in wor

What point is this supposed to be making about the product? I read the article and I see no insights of value produced, doesn't really seem to be a good advert for this technology. This is not a judgement on the value of Joe Rogan cont

Have you looked at F# at all? OCaml like syntax in the .NET ecosystem with great tooling and good interoperability with C#. It's pretty easy to work in a C# /.NET environment and introduce F# for some parts of the codebase.

Syntax like F# but with the ability to get performance like C++. Linear types seem to offer some hope of being able to have manual / non GC memory management in a functional programming language but I haven't really seen this done

Contained fusion might be impossible but I don't think we have anything as suggestive that quantum computing is possible as we do for fusion.

Thing is fusion is known to be possible - the sun and hydrogen bombs. Quantum Computing lacks equivalent existence proofs. There's a lot of abstract theory but no real indication it is possible to scale up in the real physical world to
