This spirit of the article is good, but two of the three example questions are bad. I ask candidates about projects on their resume. I ask them deeper questions about those projects. Many people get excited about cool things they have built

I would like to see them prove that I knew my password. That would be an interesting precedent. On an unrelated note, these people are probably guilty and it is a bummer that I have to choose to side with them because letting them go free i

Apple preemptively cut off the Idevice from office by building the app store and taking a 30% cut of sales. MS would have been stupid to give away 30% of its revenue to its biggest competitor, but in hindsight it may have been the right mov

I would love to see non-technical finance people branch out into the real economy. Where would they go? They would make excellent CPAs, but how many more CPAs do we need? The next logical jump would be to management, but a management does r

There are not enough players in the streaming industry to negotiate. If you lose one you will not be able to make enough money from the other 2. They know this and will be able to low ball you. They also pay a flat fee up front based on how

I think that is a good idea. We should have a movement to destroy destructive entities like the MPAA, RIAA, NAR, and other groups that inhibit innovation with lobbying and lawsuits. How do we do that?

My Samsung Transform and I disagree. This phone should never have been for sale. It is under powered and just about unusable. They made money when I bought it, but I am now forever suspect of their products. The thing that Apple has that mo

I am stuck with windows and cygwin. Is there a way to run vim without the weird bugs? I run rxvt and still see a lot of weirdness with vim, I really only use it for quick edits. I would love to put in the time to learn it better, but I don'

Nutch will do the crawling and indexing for you. Solr has a web interface built in. You can build your own SE in a couple hours. Then you can do some clever machine learning based on usage data with Mahout. http://nutch.apache.org/ http

I don't think the US education system is as bad as everyone says. I think the metric that we use to judge our system against other countries is not accurate. The US has had a high level of economic activity and innovation for decades. I thi

I think you have a point. We are trying to hire at a large company and we don't see many resumes that make it through the HR filter. I still haven't figured out how this process works.

Reading other peoples code is a great way to learn, but often other peoples code is not very accessible. How often do you look at the code written by a star dev in another department on another project. I can't: -identify star devs unless I
