Your tutorials are awesome and while you may not even see this I would love for someone at DO to get on blob storage. If that was available I could move a lot of things over ($25k/mo on AWS currently). Load balancers and VPCs are also

I know this will not be a popular answer but if your program is too complicated to understand in a text editor I think you might have a problem. I will however use an IDE if I'm inheriting a project that I can hardly make sense of.

I would strongly recommend people steer clear of Elastic Beanstalk with Docker. Every 20 or so days I have to completely terminate all of my instances as commands begin to fail. This didn't seem to happen as much when the projects we h

Exactly. It is not a requirement. It is merely a liability shift so the merchant (CVS in this case) will be liable for fraudulent charges if they do not use chip & pin. In this case it seems they just went that way to play it safe.

For anyone that is interested.. 1.0 still does not mean defaulting to CoreCLR on OS X and Linux. It is still using Mono. You can force it (looks like CoreCLR is still RC1) by running `dnvm upgrade -r coreclr`

We'll see how long it takes to go cross platform. Only then can someone really say but so far this PR doesn't make me feel very comfortable with the Node ecosystem going forward.

It shouldn't be merged into core if it doesn't work on the rest of the platforms core works on. Keep it in some experimental branch until it is ready and more important why would they even submit the PR if a ton of tests are faili

Because if the argument is better support and wider reach then maybe wait until it runs on more than one platform. Edit: even if they had waited until the JITless builds for OS X and Linux were ready I'd be happier. This definitely fee

We don't rule them out by any means but it is a big plus. If someone demonstrates in an interview that they have an interest (we usually have a brief test we send out via email just to see how they do also) we're totally fine with

In my experience, developers with GitHub repos or other work usually are more interested in what they do. For me, that translates to people that are proud of the code they write and more interested in the job rather than someone that just c

Node 4/5 (really arrow functions alone) largely eliminated the need for Babel on backend code IMO.

Since this is likely just an embedded webview I'd strongly recommend people check out Paw ( https://luckymarmot.com/paw ). It's a native app and works great.

Having used both Node and Go (truly love them both as well) I can safely say that Node.js is far more of a pain to deploy than Go although once you set up the CI/CD pipeline it becomes less of a pain. One note I would say though is tha

You are asking for trouble using a tool like this if you don't understand every little thing that it is doing. Managing hundreds of instances on AWS is not easy even using Amazon's own tooling.

Wait.. are you using the IP of the ELB instead of the A or AAA record and then using Route 53's round robin DNS? You should absolutely not be doing that if so but if you must you should enable health check on Route 53. Edit: Here is
