I’ve found that pull request size solves a lot of the issues that people have with code reviews and quality. When people see a very large pull request, there is a tendency to skim and then slap on an Approval. Keeping pull requests small ty

My favorite approach is Zustand, which is a simplistic object with data and functions to update that data, combined with react-query for doing a lot of the data fetching. Zustand is super simple and based around hooks, and I find that with

You wouldn’t necessarily need to store passwords in plaintext. You could keep a password encrypted and then when a user logs in their password is sent along on a request that does the automation and then discarded at the end. Of course that

People tend to reply with what they know, and there’s no denying that React is incredibly popular. That said, pick any of the popular frameworks like React, Vue, Angular etc and it’ll be fine. There’s not really a huge difference between al

Yes simultaneously thousands of developers are wrong and stupid and have no idea what they are doing, yet you are the enlightened one. Give me a break.

I think you’ll find, as evidenced by many popular libraries moving to TS, that TS is incredibly popular and increasingly becoming the defacto way to write for the web

OP literally mentions that weak typing is a deal breaker, so they should definitely use typescript.

This is awesome! One minor issue is that on mobile when I open the left drawer, the content runs off the bottom of the screen and there’s no scroll, so I can never click the last items

Sorry to derail your comment, but how do you like living in Chattanooga, both from tech and quality of life perspectives?

One thing to consider (if it doesn’t exist already) is to allow exporting via json or some format, in a way that it can be reuploaded in the future. I made a resume builder for myself awhile ago, and my favorite feature is that I can save a

I could not disagree more with this. It becomes much harder to associate a name with a face when working remotely if someone has a picture of a Pokémon as their profile picture. I don’t judge my coworkers based on their appearance but it ma

I don’t have a solution but want to echo the sentiment that it is weird that people do not have a picture of themselves as their profile picture. Cartoon characters and random photos are very unprofessional IMO and I wish people would take

It’s weird to be married and imagine a scenario where my wife and I are arguing hers vs mine. I make approximately 4x more than my wife and we treat all money as shared. Bills are paid from a shared checking and if she wants to buy somethin

I’ll also add that getting started is easy and cheap. Forget all the complex solutions, and start with a $10 plastic container or 5 gallon bucket. All the pre-made stuff is a waste of money IMO

I’ve grown a handful of things indoors using the Kratky method and some grow lights. My apartment gets very little natural light, but otherwise the grow lights are not necessary. I found it to be economical, and really fun to grow. Cilantro

In 2022 if you enter your email into any service you should basically expect it to be public information at some point. It’s just a matter of time until something happens and it gets leaked.

I made my own using the weather.com api. You’ll be surprised how many websites use APIs with keys in the url and those api keys work on any site forever. Look around and you’ll find an open api, then you can make whatever interface you want

If you haven’t already, step 1 would be to read through the React docs. I think there is a beta version floating around for React 18, but the current docs are definitely sufficient. Maybe pair that with a local environment setup to run the

I find I have the opposite problem. I zone out coding and 3 hours go by and I haven’t taken a break, walked around, or even had a drink of water. I think remaining focused is a mixture of a couple things: low/no BS work culture, low me

I’m not sure why everyone compares frontends to backends as if they are exactly the same. Like it or not, JavaScript has effectively become the de-facto way to build interactive UIs, and backend technologies fill a completely different spac

I think it’s exactly the opposite as you describe. The React API has been incredibly stable and consistent for years now.
