If reddit hears about this, it's over. Not really, but I'd rather HN itself not hit any social news site. We'll have to build a new community. In general, I think it's fair to say many of us jumped from /. to digg, to reddit, and then here.

If you simply received a karma point for making a submission or a comment, then I imagine we'd receive quite a bit more spam. Instead, we're all put on the spot to make valid contributions. This is great, however, there isn't really a forum

Cool. I didn't expect you to be able to say much at this point. I wish you luck, and keep us updated.

Note: This is going to come across crappy, but please don't take it that way. I'm actually curious. Care to share anymore of your ultimate goal? From the outset, I don't see anything too compelling, and I didn't really expect YC to jump on

A. I really wanted something and built it. I found out other people liked it and wanted it. I've been developing based on feedback and my larger plan.

That was altogether pretty lame. Having done some NLP and chatterbot development in the past, I don't see anything here out of the ordinary. In fact, it seems as though they're just trying to impress folks who don't know any better. People

So after getting downmodded, and no one actually correcting me, I decided do a quick Google search and see what came up. Oh, looks like I was right. In an interview, Twitter developer Alex Payne blames the Rails framework for scaling issues

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Twitter having scaling issues earlier this summer? I think Twitter's developers placed the blame squarely on Rails.

It's really frustrating to have spent all this time polishing and refining our site for the last 2 weeks nearly non-stop to have them poop out on us like this. Literally hours after submitting our application for review, and more than likel

I applied to YC once before. It's kind of funny, the idea I submitted this time is something I included in the "What cool things have you built?" question last go around. Anyone else end up doing the same? As an aside, Media Temple is screw

I can't get over a few things. One, how many of these so-called startups are actually receiving outside funding? It's one thing to hack together a dumb idea and put it online with ad banners all over the place, and another to actually recei

Not at all ridiculous. In fact, I was thinking something very similar about a week ago but I didn't really dwell on it. After reading PG's most recent article, a couple things he pointed out seemed like a solidification of what you and I ar

This is just my perspective, but if you're hiring and treating programmers like temps, don't expect any works of beauty. They're going to push out what they need to push out, probably very hackishly (because what do they care?), and then ba

If you can't convince them this is the one idea they should work on maybe you need to change your idea. Not necessarily. You can have a great idea and still have shaky cofounders. It doesn't automatically mean your idea sucks, cofounders

I was six years old and sitting in my father's lap reading while my mother video-taped. At some point I playfully smacked my dad, he playfully smacked back and I began to cry. Afterwards, my mom said something about editing the video. In my
