I doubt it. If this was true, we'd already be there. We have teleconferencing and long distance communications already, and this doesn't really happen. You would have to go beyond mere conferencing, and create specialized tools th

I expect someone to be virtuous because it's the right thing to do, not because of how many likes it gets them on Twitter.

I think that’s where the confusion is. A virtue signaler doesn’t necessarily have to be a hypocrite, they can just be someone who is motivated to make overt displays of virtue for personal gain.

Instead of "trying to understand the other side", most people would be better served by playing devil's advocate against their own side. Would you know how to identify a virtue signaler if you found one?

Without getting too philosophical, if energy is really what you want to work on, then the problem of making batteries that are as small and as energy dense as possible would be worth spending an entire life trying to solve, because a breakt

With the transparency effect and multiple images overlapping as they rotate, I wonder if this could be used to create a sort of secure QR code. Maybe a new patent is in order.

Curious to know if you tried React with Flow before choosing to go with React and Typescript.

When money is going out so easily to build 7 billion dollar stadiums, it’s hard to imagine why they can’t just throw 5 billion into something like border security.

I'm sick and tired of hearing this refrain. It assumes people have no internal values and just vote for things based on how it will personally benefit them, which is not true. People can and do vote for things that give no benefits t

Corporations are ultimately just people; a large group of people. Think of what would happen if we punished the hell out of Marriot. Many of those people could lose their jobs and be unable to provide for their families, for something tha

I think you’re wrong. An asshole who cares at least has a moral compass, and knows the direction it should point. They lack motivation though to go above and beyond their own selfishness to do more than the bare minimum, but there is still

I don’t like when people use “wins the lottery” because it leads to distracting tangents. A person that wins a lottery could do anything. How much did they win? Maybe they’ll still keep working? Maybe they’ll go off to start their own compa

I wish more people understood Doomsday prepping is really more of a hobby than an actual concern over the total collapse of all civilization. It’s fun to prepare, and to think of every scenario no matter how outlandish, and it’s fun to make

Soon I’ll be on the wrong side of 30 and part of the reason I strive to master important skills is because I know I’ll be put out to pasture some day if I can’t demonstrate my value. I don’t want to depend on a post-ageist society to save m

Frontend javascript programming is already blue collar. Very little science left in most tasks, most of the time you are just smashing together packages and declaratively building interfaces to the point that most of the hard work has been

The idea of a phone call taking up an entire screen and interrupting your activity hearkens back to the days when Apple emphasized that the iPhone should still be prioritized as a phone first. Clearly, people have evolved to richer forms of
