The point is not to understand linear algebra in a few lines of code. The point is to present the language of mathematics in another light; and hopefully demystify intimidating-looking equations that often appear in literature surrounding g

It took me a while. My background was Java, Python, ActionScript and a few other languages sprinkled in. After about a year working JS, its now my preferred dev environment. The turning points for me: - modularity - npm has really changed t

> You could technically use some FPLang-to-JS compiler, but those suck more often than not. Features like the function bind syntax are only possible with Babel or another transpiler. It will likely be years before you can use them prac

IMO Webpack and browserify are on a pretty even playing ground, with pros and cons in each. I don't get the people who say one has made the other obsolete.

Cool. You can also use the "quantize" module on npm to get prominent colours. Example: https://www.npmjs.com/package/get-rgba-palette

It's true; a public npm module will probably not be as optimized as your hand-tuned and application-specific shader effects. But for most use cases, especially quick prototyping, a fraction of a millisecond isn't going to make a d

In most cases the public modules (like glsl-perturb-normal) exist so you can get things up and running quickly. After you're happy with the results, if you've benchmarked and found the shaders are causing performance issues, it is

I am not invested in either framework but there are some very clear differences: - size/complexity: React is a monolith that can't be digested by just skimming a couple small files - API surface area: less room for major semver bu

Just a note: this is Chrome/FF only for now, and requires WebGL + float textures. If you can't see the experience, here's a short hand-held Vine: https://twitter.com/mattdesl/status/590565871074017

Nice. Anything like this built on jsdom? PhantomJS is pretty bulky for most non-visual tests.

Dropping down to WebGL should almost always give you more flexibility over how the lines are batched and rendered by the GPU, so performance should improve if you implement it mindfully.
