WebGL2 brings a few nice features but a lot of the cool stuff is already possible in current WebGL across most browsers. Here's another WebGL2 demo I had the opportunity to work on — the WebGL 1 version looks pretty similar. :) http:&

It's a combination of problems but IMHO mostly due to things like: lack of tooling, immaturity of graphics libraries and especially immaturity of WebGL2 in those libraries, and modelling/art direction. The technology is pretty cap

It sounds like GPU acceleration has been disabled or blacklisted. Maybe try another browser?

I've written a few blog posts and articles on WebGL. Not the same sort of projects, but some similarities in the rendering techniques. https://mattdesl.svbtle.com https://github.com/Jam3/jam3-lesson-web

It works in the browser - the demo is just a static site. The same rendering code can also run in Node if you want a higher res print.

Actually - the browser demo is just using plain HTML and frontend JavaScript. The node part is only for generating higher resolution prints, offline (no server). :)

Usually I recommend PIXI or ThreeJS, but here's some links for low level WebGL/GLSL things. :) https://github.com/stackgl/shader-school https://github.com/stackgl/webgl-workshop https:&

Those seeking a Node.js debugger may be interested in "devtool" which uses Electron to make Node.js apps run inside a Chrome DevTools instance. https://github.com/Jam3/devtool

Signed-distance field fonts (as described in that paper by Valve) is very different form the OP's approach.

Great work! Is there any WebGL source available? The demo runs very poorly on my 15" MBP (late 2013, Intel Iris Pro). I'm not sure if it's just the sheer number of glyphs being rendered at once, or whether it's something

Thanks! Sometimes I have a specific vision, other times the design is secondary to the idea. A lot of the aesthetic comes about naturally while hacking away. :)

Well, a few major differences I'm seeing at a glance: - X3DOM supports Flash as well as an X3D plugin. A-Frame is specifically targeting WebGL and has a much smaller surface area - A-Frame is based on ThreeJS rather than a custom engin
