I'm a huge fan of Rich. Can't wait to add Textual to the toolbox.

This is what happens when we allow monopolies to run wild. They have no incentive to provide anything.

I already have trust issues with stuff like Replit and similar products that try to move everything off my computer that I own and control and on to their server. I see the value in it but I would never trust it. Good to see their CEO show

Honestly, why post this? There is nothing to discuss from this “article “. Just someone who pretends he never talks about this stuff when he absolutely brings it up every chance he can.

As a former NYC resident who now lives in it’s burbs, you only pay the city tax when living in the five boroughs.

They idea of turning it into a ritual is awesome. I’m definitely going to try that because it’s something I’ve struggled with in the past. I find building things into habits is the only way to maintain them in the long term.

I have a similar plan with my current project [0] of interactive coding docs. The library to build the docs would be OSS. So anyone could build it and use it in their projects, But the business of hosting courses, payment, an advanced UI fo

Slack is the one that clicked for me as well. I used it with some friends just to try it out. Then at work our small team used the free version, without anyone's permission, just to play around and see how we liked it. Turns out anothe

Reminds me of the Fred Brooks quote, "Show me your flowchart and conceal your tables, and I shall continue to be mystified. Show me your tables, and I won't usually need your flowchart; it'll be obvious." It always start

You have been hired to solve problems, so do that. Writing code is usually how, but not always. Try to understand the “why” to the problems you have been given. Ask questions. Be upfront and communicate clearly. Things will go wrong but try

I pretty much agree with everything you are saying and I do think a lot of confusion comes from conflating the two goals together. I think I was speaking more from personal experience that taking on goals that are more in my own control lea

But the goal isn't to be a famous author, it's to write quality books. It's a different mindset. Becoming a famous author is something that is out of your control. Instead of focusing on the outcome, which you can't cont

In this video by Brandon Sanderson [0] he talks a little bit about goals and I follow something similar. At one point he talks about setting goals that are actually in your control. So you wouldn't set a goal like "become a famous

I’ve actually been writing a post about just this concept. When I think simple, I think solving the problem in a way that adds value and doesn’t have unnecessary overhead. I think it’s important to highlight the differences between simple,

I prefer to think of it as, let's tax the people who benefit 10000 times more from the current system or who have probably a million times more influence than the average person. They certainly didn't work 10000 times harder and I

I doubt that it's about writing code quickly but instead about how they architect the system. They build in a way that makes the code easier to use, easier to add features, and less prone to errors (because it's more straightforwa

I really enjoy the whole ritual. Heat up the water, grind the beans, SMELL them, pour the water over. It's honestly just a nice little habit that I find think is a calm way to start my mornings. Even if it takes a little more time, the

I can't even try and take an article like this seriously. I understand it says in the article that Jeff Bezos owns the WaPo, but the way it's written sounds like Amazon trying to make a threat. Just look at the way the article sta

Well almost every company acts in a sociopathic way to maximize profit so I don’t see any issue with it. I also don’t think the reason to do it is to feel better about yourself, it’s to gain information about your situation in the job marke

I believe that is the real key to enjoying Reddit. Communities that are laser focused. Basically doing just one thing well. When a community is too big and too general I think the quality suffers.

I'm not sure I would agree with this statement. I think there needs to be a balance of both solitude and human interaction, and that balances differs from person to person. I’m definitely more introverted but it doesn’t mean I don’t ne
