Titanium makes the impossible seem possible with native mobile apps. There are some speed/memory issues at times, but as long as you construct your app with best practices in mind you should be good.

giving the user that much control, using his example of a spreadsheet on his computer, makes me cringe thinking about how much the user could mess things up with the data.

agreed, right there with you. my main apple id is gmail, but i do already have a me.com account also. would like to merge but it seems the only option on the iPhone is to create a new one, not sign-in with an existing one.

Off topic: Anyone else read this title as "What I Learned From Fixing my Mom's Laptop"? I think I have been doing too much tech support for my mom and her friends lately.

Since you are making outbound calls, I'm curious how you will handle verification of phone numbers? It looks like I can enter whatever phone number(s) I want, which seems like it could be abused by spammers.

I have had similar experiences with apps before where someone from the App Store review team actually called me about an app rejection. Very surprising, but that sort of feedback definitely helps a great deal. Unforunately, I have also seen

the part around the 41 second mark where he flips open the cover concerns me a little, notice him placing his left hand on the hinge area for support. i wonder if maybe it comes off too easily.

No mention of YUI yet? I have been using it for years and can't imagine using any other framework. YUI can be somewhat low level, but YUI 2 has grown to provide many impressive components like layout manager, menus, data tables, rich text
