Valve aren't trying to make a business out of selling to Linux gamers. But Linux gamers are free, enthusiastic beta testers and bug hunters for Valve's console. I imagine most Linux using gamers already have some of Valve's games on Windows

I've been trying this on lots of our customers' boxes and can't exploit it - no matter how many times I've tried I always get turned away when retrying root's password, e.g. trying "while true; do mysql -u root mysql --password=baha; done"

Another Carmageddon connection: Patrick Buckland, the Stainless Games founder, also wrote Mac shooter Crystal Quest which was the reason I don't remember most of 1988.

Brilliant news. Of course Valve wouldn't want their own console to be tied to Windows, and there are definitely enough Mac-ported games (e.g. including Assassins Creed, not just their own stuff) that Linux ports must be do-able in short ord

Yup, this worked really well for us too - we asked candidates to submit a 20-line "binary chop" search over a given data file (well, that was the solution, we described the problem and restrictions such that that was the only right answer).

I disagree that high-performance blogs are a solved problem in distros - depends on who's linking to you. Wordpress on Apache melts on a small VPS under a few hundred hits per second, using gobs of memory for each call. So you turn on supe

I wrote a similar article trying to segregate hosting stages (though beware I'm a hosting company promoting a product) - http://blog.bytemark.co.uk/2011/11/03/the-cloud-is-your-inst... . tl;dr version is that I think the ultimate flexibi

I suspect in large part because Rackspace are much better at marketing, or were quicker off the mark than Amazon. They realise that an "en vogue" name like github looks very good hosted with them, and are likely offering a big discount in

The security of Yubikeys (and RSA tokens, and most other two-factor authentication devices) rely on a shared secret between the authentication server and the devices themselves. If you wanted to authenticate your own VMs with your V-Key, we

No, they're virtual cores, currently 16 Opteron cores between a maximum of 120 machines. Right now you will get 16 dedicated cores for a 120GiB VM.

What gmac said, though his headline could have been better :) We call them V-Keys instead of Yubikeys, because the latter would imply you can use them on any Yubikey-supporting site. And with ours, you won't be able to.
