Will be interesting to see how the market reacts in real-time to flight tests going forward post-IPO. Usually big events (either good or bad) are announced pre- or post-market but launch windows don't care about market hours.

I'm on the lookout for a wireless ball mouse. I want to relive the glory days of cleaning out the little cylinders on the inside of the mouse without being constrained by wires.

This is what makes measuring productivity so hard. Let's say you're a worker that is responsible for updating a status of an order with a bunch of metadata. One day, 100 orders come in for you to update. The next day, you get 50

I can't figure out how there's both too little supply (so a dramatic need for more data centers) but also too little demand (so labs subsidize inference).

Wonder how many tokens would be saved if everyone just put “be brief” in their prompts. Also wonder if there is some perverse incentive for models to be verbose to juice tokens.

It's interesting. On one hand the labs say that they can't keep up with demand for tokens. On the other hand there is an entire ecosystem built around figuring out which magic words will make LLMs output fewer tokens.

This really sounds like an AI voice agent transcribed "Thirty Seconds to Mars" to "30 seconds for Bruno Mars" and then no one actually proof-read the thing.

I've see a post like this every week for the last 2 years. Are these models actually getting worse? Or do folks start noticing the cracks as they use them more and more?

Not good for employees that are being measured by their token usage.

I don't hate this idea. The core premise being that I want an easy way to tune the tone/personality of how a model talks to me and generates content. It's definitely possible to tune but it's not obvious for most users.

Except for the whole PDF-industrial complex. Adobe has a long life ahead (maybe a sad one) as long as PDFs are the document format of choice.

Is this _actual_ spend? Like dollars actually changing hands? Or is this "we said we are going to invest $X"? What about the circular agreements?

This notion that "we don't have enough compute" does not cleanly reconcile with the fact that labs are burning cash faster than any cohort of companies in history. If I am a grocery store that pays $1 for oranges and sells th

Hard for me to reconcile the idea that they don't have enough compute with the idea that they are also losing money to subsidies.
