> [1] Yes, the irony here is that naive optimising for profit is typically not profitable. Yes but only over a relatively long time period, which the overarching system itself is not incentivizing anyone to look at too carefully.

Are there any other companies besides Google that have implemented this solution? If not then I don't think you can really call it a solved problem.

What's the benefit of using an asynchronous event driven system if you can't process any of those events without performing a synchronous query back on the same provider for all of the necessary data?

Just noting I didn't prescribe anything or state my personal preference anywhere. It was merely an observation after working remotely for about as long as I've worked in person and I don't really appreciate you adding words l

With remote, everything has to be highly intentional. Schedule a meeting means having a pre-defined time, often there is a specific topic of conversation in mind, people diligently stick to that topic as much as possible to respect everyone

I'm not sure what you mean by "running your own on native NVMe" Are you talking about using the managed AWS Relational Database Service or something else? Aurora can also use instance types with NVMe. Anyway, that's also

I had an eerily similar experience with GraphQL where by the end of "productionizing" the backend to support the client load, were using whatever their equivalent of cached/persisted queries is called (sorry I can't reca

Other than installing programs, most of this stuff can be automated by writing a shell script. For example: ``` # Remove the auto-hiding Dock delay defaults write com.apple.Dock autohide-delay -float 0 # Remove the animation when hiding

It could have been me 15 years ago but these days I find this kind of attitude to be frankly very whiny. Building software lends itself to change and iteration more readily than building in the physical world. As an industry or discipline,

The problem with the yoke is you DO need to rotate it by 180 degree, frequently. It's any situation you would need to turn a normal steering wheel by that much. When this design is used in eg. Formula 1 cars, they have an extremely tig

This reads like barely chatGPT-quality output and also appears to be an SEO ploy from the domain name on down. One of the anti patterns is "making the system too complicated" Insightful!

Writing generally "reusable code", aka a library, warrants a different approach to software development than application code in many areas. 1. Application code = Fast-changing, poorly specified code. You need to have a rapid deve

Designing good UI for such a varied platform as "the web frontend" is incredibly challenging. They might be at 300px wide, they might be at 1920px wide, they might have a mouse, or they might be using all touch. Or both. Or neithe
