Yeah, good point. Patten said "A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow." Not a bad way to approach your projects either...

Oh wow. I just got into work and saw this on my Google Alerts. It's funny--I'm currently redesigning the entire front page. I think it looks kind of sloppy right now and was hoping to rerelease on Sunday before I started promoting it and re

Nah, not overlooked. Domain Pigeon lists domain names, but it doesn't let you register them for free, which is what I think "free domain" refers to. That's why I didn't consider them much. Also, I'm afraid of the competition for those terms

Just now, yes. For volume: available URLs - 320 available website - 2600 available websites - 1000 available website names - 1000 So, not bad (a lot better than unregistered), but not as good as the ones that contain the word "domain" too.

As sleezy as it seems to craft your site in a way to increase its pagerank, that's the system we've got and to ignore it is to miss out on a major traffic source. We had a phrase in college... "Shut up and color" :)

No ads yet; the purpose of this exercise was to find out what to focus the copy on the site. Ads will follow... maybe...

A little background, as I can relate: I built a poker calculator called ALL IN Expert, which I thought would be a big hit but wasn't. When it launched, it received very little coverage or attention and I quickly despaired and took the site

A little bit of a good product, a little bit of luck, and a little bit of attention on HN.

Very good observations. - I'm not sure what the best way to show the price is. I played with having it big and bold on the registration page but couldn't get it to look right. In an effort to learn how to do it better, I've been taking phot

My hope is that Domain Pigeon will give people options so that they don't have to use names like Oodlu if they don't want to. In a sense, we're on the same team :)

It's more of a prank, but, one I need to solve. When shitty domains get voted up to the Top 10, people will see those and infer the overall quality of the domains on the site. Worse, no one will ever register those domains and they will sit

Yes, as someone who voted up "adenosineetriphosphate.com" figured out, that can be done. I limited it to one view per unique IP address to avoid that problem in the future. Thank you.

When the site has 100K domains rather than 10K domains, I'll definitely make it more prominent. Right now most search results will be 'No domains found' which is why I don't want to showcase it too much. Also, as mentioned elsewhere in this
