There are shortened forms of singular nouns that end in -s, which also end in -s. Some forms are more common in some cultures/places - "stat" vs "stats" for "statistics" comes to mind.

The procfs hidepid option still defaults to 0 (visible), but systemd will set it to 2 (invisible).

What causes the "spikes" in the trace on all the lines? First They're regular but in different positions - first I thought it was a grid pattern. If my math works out, it is a ~53kHz pulse.

This is DS-Lite (Dual Stack). Entire regions of ISP users may share a single IPv4 address. There are some IPv4-only websites I visit that show a CloudFlare captcha on every single visit (for 30 mins), presumably because they see a huge nu

Not quite that simple: Using AOM AV1, a 12-core Ryzen 5900X beats a 128-core dual EPYC 7763 (same Zen3 architecture) in every encoding benchmark, according to https://openbenchmarking.org/

But this way is easier to reconcile the output, because the values logged shown are what they where at the time of the console.log(), not at the time of expansion (later). Try this in a browser console: x={a:1,b:{c:1}};console.log(x);x.b.c=

Yes, ZFS makes this very easy. It's no problem to snapshot an entire filesystem with billions of files every 5 minutes from cron. Then the OP could have done: zfs-restore-file recording-16679.flv With `zfs-restore-file` as the

Interesting problem - what's the shortest C function that takes a pointer to bytes and returns the length of the x86-64 instruction there? (and how many hours would it take to code it)

On further thought, the subcode 'P' channel can be used to identify the start of each track, which I verified is present in the .mdf file, but I didn't find a way to convince mdf2iso to output a TOC/CUE or to convince cd

Yes, in the .mdf format there is usually subchannel information after every sector. In Red Book (CDDA) Mode 2, this is 2352 bytes of audio data followed by 96 bytes of subchannel data, so this is just skipping the subchannel data.

A quick look in a hex-editor shows a familiar little-endian 16-bit PCM format, with 2352 byte chunks of data with 96 bytes of non-PCM data repeating - this is characteristic of raw Mode-2 CD digital audio with sub-channel data. I think .MDF
