I thought of asking the same question, but decided to do some googling. Found this interesting review by Guido: https://profiles.google.com/gvanrossum/posts/CGh9MoWU53V Overall, it seems to be a great editor for doing work in Python. I h

All the ones that support Django out of the box, are all in private beta I believe. So the market is starting to warm up to Django, but still not open for sale. Hopefully they all get through private beta and release, because competition is

This has been happening for a long time. I remember stumbling across an /etc/passwd file that was from a Yahoo! server awhile ago.

No idea, but after reading that article... I don't think the numbers really matter. If all the facts in the story are right, then one man will be away from his children for 5 years, just because he didn't want to be strong-armed out of his

So do we get some credit on our AWS accounts? I haven't really read their SLA for EC2.

Well that isn't supposed to happen :( I think I'll go home and wait it out there, but it appears that they are having some progress in recovering it. But our site is still affected.

It is more noticeable since so many large sites use it. Kind of like a MS BSOD was a common joke because so many people used MS Windows. If we were all having our own rental servers then.... well, many sites that we know wouldn't be around

I thought AZs were supposed to be different physical data centers. If that is not the case, then having a multi-region setup would be a necessity for any major sites on AWS. Perhaps there will be a time where to truly be redundant, one woul

I think this is a good example of how the "cloud" is not a silver bullet to making your site always up. AWS provides a way to keep it up, but it is up to each developer to ensure that they are using AWS in a way to make sure their site can

Are you aware if they do the failover, then after it is successful perform maintenance? Or do they take the just stop the master server to do maintenance and let failover happen automatically? The first method would eliminate downtime. The

Reminds me of QA at Yahoo! Japan. They make sure that every page that is going to be released is capable of showing the EMG1, EMG2, and EMG3 tags. Here is a screenshot of EMG1 and EMG2 both being shown at the same time, it was the first tim

I don't think any other cloud provider has as many employees as them. They have over 300+ job openings at the moment, but not sure as how to many AWS related jobs are currently filled. Looks like their two-pizza team rule keeps them nimble
