If you're building bridges, this shouldn't be a controversial statement. Same if you're building cryptography software. It's debatable if the same should apply to the vast majority of software that is less critical.

I’d love to see the debate over adding 6k salaries for Congress. That’d be a hoot and the likely plan of attack for the dissenters.

Anyone who owns two $500k houses is wealthy in 2026. I used to own two worth less than that and didn’t consider myself wealthy, but I was by the statistics.

The boilerplate really does get out of hand sometimes. “There isn’t X. We built X.” Really wish more folks would stick to the older “I couldn’t find X so I built it.”

Nope, you moved the goalpost here from “who defeated the Nazis”. I am fine with your new claim of who suffered the most.

Can you elaborate on what you mean, or did you just want to state those numbers? No one is arguing that the US fought on the Eastern Front.

> There's a strong case that they didn't even defeat the nazis, that was done by the Soviets. With Lend-Lease equipment. No matter what way you cut it, multiple nations defeated the Nazis together.

This. If I go up to my boss and say “I spent $10000 but it only cost us $1000” then I spent $1000.

Religions generally stick to the standard “the old ways are whatever the last few generations taught, and the modern/liberal religions will be the old ways in a few generations”. Very few parts are not influenced by culture.
