XP explorer stars so fast because it's already running. The desktop with the icons is actually an explorer window.

It's genius because it's simple and actually is not a workaround but use of the tools as intended.

That would create a fork that nobody would use (because bitcoin holders are incentivised by the halving mechanism).

Sure, but for bitcoin it's also a trust that the money supply mechanism is very hard to change. It is possible to do so (by votes of user nodes), but it's not in the interest of the users.

It's a DIY KISS distro, but with a lot less building packages from source like on Gentoo. And with systemd as default which to me is a benefit.

I also see no difference. What I meant is that the "trading" part is the problem, not a specific asset.

So why don't we say the same about trading gold, currencies or stocks? Curing addiction of stocks, gold or currencies sounds as stupid as curing addiction of bitcoin.

They're not healing bitcoin addiction but trading addiction. You can just buy bitcoin and hold it as store of value / investment. That's a significant difference. And a misleading title IMO.

Btw, I live in Poland, and I use my banking app for internet payments and NFC payments using Pixel with CalyxOS. So it's possible to do that with some of the banking apps.

It would be great to have uBlock Origin, uMatrix, firefox's containers and other privacy features.

The Lisp part is great, but sticking to only libre software makes it a hard pill to swallow.

Not sure what's the current status on this but they were planning on moving from Tether to cooperation with El Salvador banks. https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/06/21/strike-is-phasi...

Sure, but you don't have to. I see it as a necessary step in early adoption.

A workaround which could work for regular people not bothering you would be using headphones.

Does the VS Code support plugins? One could implement client side encryption for better privacy.

It depends on the ROM. I've heard good about GrapheneOS. It was even recommended by Snowden. https://twitter.com/Snowden/status/1175430722733129729?s=09

True. That's why for work I still use a MBP. But I decided to separate work equipment/data/apps. That's a good thing to do anyway because of many reason.

Yeah, provided I don't find alternative open-source / self-hosted apps. I'm not saying it's easy, but it seems doable in medium/long term - if you value privacy and owning your data.
