If you could stuff a download URL signed for S3's PUT in a custom header (in order to do a bucket to bucket copy), this would make a great large file uploader for SaaS services that store user files on S3 too. User would send the file to so

Maybe a de-amalgamation is in order. I'm thinking a sort of inner ring system, where higher karma users contribute but lower karma have read-only. I'm sure this has big issues, just throwing it out there

Built one too, but with Meteor. I actually create a login for you automatically with auto-generated username and you can rename your username if you care. Also can copy paste images, not just drag drop http://sket.sh/

Maybe it's a matter of adjusting some copy... "Show HN" was appropriate when HN consisted of its higher quality membership. You were showing your project to people who were more likely to provide better quality feedback. Now that the popula

I turned that feature off because of Markdown. To force a carriage return, you need to have two spaces at the end of the line.

I'd love to see a videoconferencing solution for cheap that dedicates a full wall of your home office (projector and hd camera combo) mirrored to a similar wall at the office, always on. I know there are expensive 100K type solutions out th

I sent this to some writers at an agency and their immediate feedback was pointing out grammatical errors in your website copy (they pointed out the about page specifically). They are looking at the service in greater depth, but nonetheless

I've been waiting for someone to build this... I occasionally googled "markdown track changes" in the hopes that something turned up. My need for such a service stemmed from working at a full-service agency, where website copy would be writ

I wonder how well it can perform for amputees. I'm guessing there is HUGE potential here, one that a Leap Motion simply can't compete with.

Is it retina? I'm worried about how tiny everything will be... I haven't found anything concrete about how Unity handles high dpi Edit: you said MBA, I read MBP... Nevermind, no retina :)

Feedback: 1) Uploaded signature via smartphone option, which is great! But cropping was very difficult. Can you make that window bigger? It was like.. 100x100 2) The bounding box for the select tool may have been imprecise -- my scan for my

Does a URL shortener service exist that compresses the URL instead? It wouldn't be as short of course, but then you could recover the original URL yourself if the service is down. A browser could, should this become a popular enough method,

Ah I see where you're coming from. The list I was speaking of originally was a wishlist. It wasn't a "buy only these things or you're no longer family" ;) Incidentally my app supports "secret gifts". You can enter a surprise gift that every

I deleted my previous comment as perhaps I am taking your comment too personally. I agree with you that it is nice to be surprised. I am just pointing out that there are legitimate uses for the "clinical" approach to gift giving: wedding an

Wait until you get married, then you'll understand ;) Wedding registries, baby registries... And in many cases that type of gift-giving extends to Christmas and birthdays.

Same here... Over 10 years ago my mom gave me a paper list of gift ideas for the whole family. I was supposed to cross off what I was buying to avoid duplicates. Didn't take long for me to write a web app to manage it. I rewrote it last yea

You could leverage zencoder to generate your thumbnails. Send the job as a test so it's free (limited to 5 seconds but that's ok since we only want thumbnails) and specify your thumbnail settings as desired. You could even set the clip leng

Since discovering Meteor, I haven't bothered using other frameworks anymore (apart from Jekyll for static sites). If it's dynamic in any way, I use Meteor. Once you're used to its paradigms (and quirks), putting something together that ties

I've never tried ArmA with a TrackIR setup but it sounds like it would be kind of annoying, i.e. when moving your head, your screen obviously stays on the desk, so you end up turning your head and looking at the screen from the corner of yo

I'm trying to get a sense as to how exactly the head tracking will correlate with the controls. From the videos I've seen, it looks like the implementations so far have your head movements working in some combination with movements coming f

The main reason was the sharing mechanism. When you share your list with someone, you can type in their email even if they don't have a Gift Tracker account. What will then happen is an account will be created for them with no password. Whe
