Your right. Ive been saying for years that routers should come with 2 networks (vlans) out of the box (colour coded red and blue) to make it easier to seperate out kit/appliances. One side for IoT stuff that you dont trust and the oth

Yeah, I feel for dirty admitting this in this forum, but I still use React & MobX for state management. I get to use simple classes with observable state management. Works just dandy for me.

Huh... So your saying "right click -> jump to declaration" uses the compiler to resolve all the candidate functions to determine the function that would of been chosen at compile time? ..and then take you to that function? I t

I think another very important question to ask is "What version of C++ will you be using?" Is your companies codebase stuck on a pre 2011 version of C++ for some archaic reason? If so, I would be less inclined to touch that codeb

Microsoft would try to make everyone happy by creating 200 different GUI tool-kits that do similar things on different platforms but with each one having slightly different syntax but giving you the capability of using different languages.

What is the API story like now? When I first looked before version 1 was stamped you had to search for 3rd party plugins for features like accessing the camera and such.

Damn man. I also heard the same thing. Also, I could have sworn it was mentioned in the audio book I read.

Well, as the author of the code, you should be able to tell the function what type of variable you expect (string, int, or business entity e.g Book, Bookstore). That way if you later try to call the function passing an int when it expected

I don't know about the US but Barclays in the UK has had multi-factor authentication for years now. Is that not the case in the US?

Yeah it is!! LastPass stores our master password hashes as a SHA-256 bit key. All I was quipping at, was the fact that the password you enter in length is a whopping 720 bits! I find it funny that this bit length gets reduced to a hash whic

Well, considering the LastPass master password is stored as a 256bit string on the servers, your 90 character master password has 720 bits making it considerably more its that make up the hash thats stored on the servers! 1 ASCII character

It would be better if "fat" was renamed to "fuel" because that's exactly what it is. Fuel for the body.

I would love to know why Midori failed and the reasons why they decided to discontinue it. It would be a great war story to read (if a Microsoft employee was allowed to write it up). I love the idea of starting a new modern OS written from

Yeah, i find that using a library (like Stateless for C#) where it makes you "spell-out, upfront" each of the states and the transitions that are permitted from this state, it makes it easier to reason about the code.

Don't forget the Jesus on E's demo by the LSD group. https://youtu.be/0MjNsNW8DvM . If I remember rightly, the LSD group also did the scene Grapevine magazine and also Dox disks.

Yeah, that's a good strategy I suppose even if you do need to cart around a HDD to update every so often. You just need to make sure your parents backup is updated periodically.

Honestly our stuff is pretty pedestrian. We have a front end website and API service, a couple of application servers for our telemetry IoT outstations and of course a backend database server.

Gee.. Sounds like you have had an awful time of it. Any chance you could speak more of some of the issues you encountered? We are looking at cloud providers and was kinda leaning towards Azure.
