Last time I looked at E for linux, it was incredibly tricky to build, if it would even build at all, and was really buggy afterwards. I've moved on, but I think it's still in a similar spot.

Indeed, if split windows, full screen, and a few nitpicks over how the project window is refreshed, etc were addressed, a lot of people would be content to wait until judgement day for TM2.

I think one could argue both sides effectively, depending on your definition of 'change the world'. There is still a huge unequal distribution of wealth, war still wages, people go hungry, and education still isn't what it should be. The in

Some rubyists are trying with red car http://redcareditor.com/ but it's still quite a ways off from being usable. Sublime Text (www.sublimetext.com) could theoretically be ported over to Linux and Windows as it's GUI is all OpenGL and C i

www.sublimetext.com is what I use at work. It's very textmate-like + beautiful full screen mode + split views + multi-editing + scriptable in python. If I could somehow take the best parts of sublime and add it to textmate, I would be a ver

I studied applied math instead of computer science, and the exercise took me a good 15 minutes plus some time to adjust to C as I've only worked with C++. Then another 5 to simplify some redundancies. I believe the solution I came up with w

When I first sat down to write FizzBuzz for kicks I spent a few minutes trying to think of an elegant or clever solution before writing the obvious answer. I think I would be similarly on guard in an interview situation. I'd say 1 to 10 min

I suppose you could first convert the string to a list of characters and use integers as a replacement for pointers. You could then modify the list in place.

From what I understand they'll sync it to one of the computers in the Apple store before you leave if you would like so that you don't need a computer to use it.

Kunstler's demeanor rubs me the wrong way a lot of the time, but he makes very good points. That TED talk changed the way I look at a lot of things in life after I saw it years ago.

Apple doesn't have to take web apps into consideration when they're considering changing the platform or the API however they see fit. They're committed to upholding open web standards, but have no similar commitment to their own API. HTML

Maybe those APIs will be available in 4.0, and Apple wants to discourage the roll-your-own approach to maintain system-wide look-and-feel?
