Probably just a more secure way to latch the door when there's lots of wind and snow attempting to push the door in. Also lots of standard doors come with deadbolts pre-installed or at least a deadbolt hole drilled through.

Wow those examples are shockingly good. It's funny that the lyrics are garbled analogously to text in stable diffusion images. The audio quality is surprisingly good, but does sound like it's being played through an above-average

I remember in 2008 or thereabouts there was some controversy because one vendor rendered some things at a higher quality than the other. It was a relatively small thing like the edges of alpha textures or texture filtering or something. The

Historically, liquid fueled (cryogenic) vehicles have not been suitable for these kinds of missions because they take a long time to fuel and they can't be fueled ahead of time because the fuel boils off.

I wonder if there could be a flag to tell the compiler that you don't care about getting the exact distinct panic message for each bounds check, please optimize it. I suppose the assert is a flag, in a way, but I mean something more gl

One technique is to add asserts before a block of code to hoist the checks out. The compiler is usually smart enough to know which conditions have already been checked. Here's a simple example: https://rust.godbolt.org/

My impression (not based on anything firm) is that basic reasonable-length CRCs are extremely unlikely to have collisions, unless someone is deliberately trying to create collisions. If I were looking for insurance I'd turn to one of t

There are a bunch of demos for the unreal engine that you can download. I wanted to try them out recently after I built my new computer but unreal engine crashes every time I launch it. Oh well. Edit: funny, reducing my DDR5 memory speed se

`sort | uniq` is really slow for this, as it has to sort the entire input first. I use `huniq` which is way faster for this. I'm sure there are many similar options. https://github.com/koraa/huniq

I was recently working on parsing 100K CSV files and inserting them into a database. The files have a non-column-oriented header and other idiosyncrasies so they can't be directly imported easily. They're stored on an HDD so my fi

I don't have problems with RJ45 tabs breaking off. I do have two problems with the connectors: 1. Sometimes the connectors don't latch properly in the port and fall right out. I try to bend the tab out further to help it latch but

Remember HD radio? I'm amazed how little adoption that still has. They got the radio stations to buy in which should've been the hard part. If it was like any other technology it should be built into the FM tuner chips for basical
