As the article mentioned, he runs one of the largest ISPs in Pakistan called BrainNET. At least that's what I remember.

I grew up in Lahore, Pakistan and knew Basit Alvi - he is a super smart guy who ran a modem-based ISP (BrainNET) long before we had high-speed Internet. He's a hacker at heart.

We (Appuri) use VPCs exclusively. There are pros and cons. I'll try to list the top: Pros: - Logical isolation. You can put instances (and RDS, Redshift) etc. inside logical subnets that are not addressable from the outside world. -

We got pretty far with using Terraform to set up reasonably complex AWS architecture (VPC, multiple subnets etc.) There were several blocking bugs which @hashicorp and friends fixed fairly quickly, but not quickly enough for us to use it in

Ansible is nice, but I share the same gripes as darklajid. Plus, with Docker taking off, I question how valuable Ansible will be going forward. I see it as a "nice Chef" or "usable Puppet". Not revolutionary.
