Well, if the science community ever decides Wickramasinghe is right I'll laugh. It was interesting to read about diatoms: about 25% of all photosynthesis, more than all the rainforests location on "tree of life" is unclear: "Despite a numbe

You're guessing the rock in question did fall from the sky, but that it was blasted of the Earth previously? Aren't there features of chontritic meteorites that would make it fairly easy to distinguish from an regular rock? Given the incom

I see. What about candidates for a high silica rock that might have been metamorphized diatom deposits? If this theory was correct and diatoms were the original life form, it would suggest they might be more primitive, genetically, assumin

If diatoms did arrive in meteorites and are the ancestors of Earthly diatoms, you would think they would have shown up in the fossil record earlier.

Wow, that looks stronger than expected from the low-key presentation. I hope they can interest some other labs to attempt to double check their samples. "The universe, not humans, must have the final say to declare what the world is really

Cartoon physics meets gratuitous story changes. The Jackson films have gone downhill from Fellowship (which wasn't too bad) to the unwatchable Hobbit film.

It would appear Apple is managed in a way that allows employees to have "extreme focus", or a single focus. Also, Apple as a company seems to do a good job of staying focused on what they think is key. Thoughts?

The presidential election is a game, quite complicated, and the winner gets to be president. Voters and voting is just one aspect of the game. Romney lost this match, probably partly due to an IT and analysis advantage the Obama team had.

The main point is that the 'app' was not ready and the system failed to perform. The speculation that it could have made a difference in some states was secondary.

It would be more accurate to say: High blood pressure may damage the brain, or, the factors that cause high blood pressure also damage the brain. Correlation does not imply causation.

Here is a way to bribe journals, by purchasing large quantities of "reprints": http://blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2012/07/03/richard-smith-medical-jo... With so much money at stake, all this should surprise no one. And anyone with an ounce of brai

In the presentation, Cook refers to the "new iPad" with no "3". Inside Apple, they probably have viewed what we call the iPad 1 and iPad 2 as the prequel 1 and prequel 2 to the actual iPad, which is only now finished.
