Yes, but the "good guys" aren't supposed to harm innocents, even if it does help in the long term. Well, maybe. But it doesn't feel good at least.

You may well be right about that last part. But still, perhaps one day someone will write a C compiler in ML in record time and get people's attention.

Okay, if you literally have all the semantics of C, your idea works. But if you have ALL the semantics of C, why bother changing the syntax? As for ML and company being a better choice than C++ for writing a compiler... There may well be c

Source compatibility provides an upgrade path. This was useful when C++ was introduced, because it allows you to take an existing C program and incrementally start using C++ features. You could claim this is less important today, but I ha

Last time I checked (long ago), properties in C# don't work as ref or out parameters. Since C# actually distinguishes between ref and out parameters, it would be pretty easy to extend the language such that properties work whenever fi

Normally, I would agree with you. But let me tell you how I found out about this service. It was not through HN. It was by getting two emails from hidnchat. Five minutes apart. Emails that I am quite confident are not legit. (If you t

I smile every time I read that story. I'm up-voting for the link alone. (But yeah, it really sounds like they didn't have games in mind when they designed Go.)

There is one problem with your restatement. Breathing, even non-stop hyperventilation, does not interfere much with other activities, so it's hard to imagine how it could stunt social growth. Aside from that, it is of course true: ev
