In case you didn’t know, you can subscribe to package releases on GitHub.

There can be hundreds of different versions for each popular library, and as a dev, I need customers to use exactly the version that we tested against. There’s a whole ecosystem and tool chain around lockfiles and deterministic builds for

I’m considering the same and pursuing electronic music instrument projects. I’m very curious to learn more about yours and your background, is there a good way to?

Yes, I’m in that minority too. I’ve always had poor handwriting and always hated writing by hand. After introspecting about it, I realized that, for me, it’s because of low grade stress during handwriting, as my attention is constantly chur

What boundary would be involved in the handleClick example? Or are you speaking more generally about renames across API contracts?

I find use cases for both. Sometimes I want to run code and review the generated debug log, other times I want to step through interactively. I find interactive debugging takes more concentration than a workflow of: form hypothesis, add the

What about your workflow causes console.log statements to litter the code but not debugger statements? There are fewer of them?

How is refactoring? I was considering moving from Node to Elixir, but now that I’m using TypeScript it does feel like I would be giving something up. It’s a breeze to make broad changes knowing the compiler will prevent me from missing a co

If you think of your brain as a predictive machine that makes models of the world around it, then “first person perspective” is your brain’s model of itself in the world.

Why do you say “sensory” perception? Do you just mean that we think about our brain processes, or something else?

To be honest, I've never understood Chesterton's Fence - maybe you can help me understand. On a many codebases I've worked on, it seems prohibitively expensive to research the specific context for every nonsense piece of code

Well said. I think a microservices architecture exchanges an organizational expense for a technical expense. For certain organizations, it can be the right call.

That’s not been my experience working with microservices for the past 5+ years. It’s in a team’s own interest to document their APIs and design them well, because if they don’t then it’s their own time sink when other teams integrate. Micro

I think a big reason is that microservice architecture forces teams to establish clear boundaries rather than leave it to team diligence. For less centralized organizations, I think it can be a useful forcing function.

JavaScript will be the modern COBOL, with lots of critical legacy software needing support. Meanwhile, contemporary code won’t be so different from, say, Rust. Languages will be cross-compatible (perhaps over something like WASM), and the a

Agreed. It doesn’t seem obvious to me whether or not censoring results in less violence in the parent’s examples. Maybe it is obvious to those more well read on them.

If they had a platform, wouldn’t they then not need to resort to violence to get their message heard? It seems like those are examples of censorship driving individuals to violence.

I went with Colyseus for my multiplayer bananagrams prototype. It’s not quite the use case, but it did make life easier after figuring out how to model the game with Colyseus’s state mechanics. Basically you apply game logic on the server

Or a high minimum wage is a way to have employers cover the government’s welfare costs? Who really should front the bill for low earners to live above poverty, and why?

According to the author, it’s not just to keep paying the bills. It seems like a lack of self-awareness (or maybe courage) prevents them from realizing that avoiding risks results in self loathing.
