I'd generally agree but as a huge fan of The Diamond Age (which would arguably be easier to film) I hope it brings more people to reading Neal Stephenson.

I completely agree but I feel there is a bias on HN towards non-technical founders, certainly under these conditions. I think it's important to understand what traits of a non-tech co-founders are going to be more valuable / interesting to

That's an interesting idea for 2-factor auth. I know how to enter my computer password blindingly fast, it's pure physical memory.

This is brilliant. I would seriously pay for this service if it could use translation (edit: transcription) to keep my dreams sorted - I never remember dreaming after a few moments after waking up and this would fascinating for me. An impor

We've been absolutely lucky and had nothing but a great response with the iPhone app team. We had an app initially denied, and within 2 days of responsive communication we solved the problem they were finding and got it pushed live. However

Pairing an 'entrepreneur' with a developer can work, and I know of cases where the 'idea guy' deserves 50% - they tackle the market and sell the product. But in a Hackathon environment I'm not sure it would work: you have to share the same

Interesting read. The Load More button fails on Chrome/Mac: it shows the entries I've already read, can scroll down for more but then it just keeps repeating itself.

Aren't tlds just a landgrab from the start, making money for the registrars? The original RFC882 never stated domain.com - their example was blue.colors, red.colors etc. What happened that we became stuck with these country level TLDs, and

This is unfortunate, I do hope there is some recourse for him. I am curious, are there similar cases of this happening for the Android platform? Would there be another opportunity to plead his case before being banned?

I gather that the intent is to tether the tunnel. I've seen how cables are run in tectonic-active areas: they are provided a certain elasticity and I imagine it would be similar. Earthquakes don't move much more than a few meters at a time

Well, the ball one I've heard before and the lilypad is obvious if you've been exposed to biology. Is this not more a matter of education not being applied to real-world cases and relying on theoretical teaching?

I use the NDrive app for offline mode (pay-per-country-map). Never had a problem with it in several countries, and I go back to Google Navigation when I'm back where data access is. I couldn't imagine using a second GPS unit now after how w

Right, I wonder if the Thunderbolt isn't going to replace the expansion cards in the future. As long as latency is as low there is no other reason I can think of to maintain expansion card chassis, and thus discontinue the Mac Pros for the
