Megaupload's servers were in Virginia. If they weren't, it may have played out differently.

Does anyone ever game the system by posting with 2 accounts: one with a really high bid and a lower one, to help the customer 'pick you'? I'm not freelancing nor have ever used these sites, but I'm curious how above-board they are.

Right, I was of course being glib about weather.com. It may then be a useful service for something with Watson's capabilities to narrow down to your specific needs and historical data. I am fascinated by weather prediction, it's an interest

Spend enough time on a farm and it doesn't become that difficult to figure out: you guess, based on what you know about the seasonal weather. Watson is never going to know more about the weather than you can get on weather.com.

I've been watching a plane 'land' via cockpit mode in my home town, a surreally genuine experience given how well I know the terrain and have flown in so many times. Each time the plane rolls to maneuver in, it's as if I'm back on the fligh

Having experienced emergency care in both Denmark and the U.S., this is also the main reason I won't relocate to the U.S. until this is sorted out. I had what was thought to be a broken ankle in Denmark thanks to icy conditions and I was so

Yes, but the Stripe CTF isn't going to compare you to the entire body of humanity: just to the already-brilliant people who want to take a crack at it. I didn't know about the challenge, but I'd consider if I failed at it, that I don't have

That's not the same thing: you're not given a time-limited test that has specific answers. A challenge means solving problems in creative ways: that kind of test is fascinating and in no way demoralizing unless you haven't learnt that even

The problem with managed hosting is that it's not preventative, at least not anywhere I've found. We use Linode a lot which lets us know when CPU/disk reads are going crazy but that can just be a false trigger. I'd like a service that's mor

Am I the only one who refuses to take an IQ test? I hate being tested - especially with a time limit, I rarely play games (chess and logic puzzles being the exception) but above all I don't understand how anyone could not have an emotional

Yachting is a fascinating sport: it's extremely technical as well as exhilarating and team-building. I've had the pleasure of being in the tech area during some races where the GPS equipment is managed, stressful stuff! If you're near a bod

I'm guessing it's also an emotional issue: someone loves Twitter, they use it to communicate in ways they couldn't before. But they are frustrated by Twitter's own apps, and wanted to find a better way to use this service they love.
