If you download the software, it seems reasonable for it to get basic information. User's need to consider the developer perspective. Julia is a product with millions of hours sunk into it. It needs to sustain itself, since it's o

You are conflating is/ought. Constitutional amendments are hard to pass. That doesn't mean they ought to be. I/the poster is claiming small states should be allowed to be "bullied" by larger states since smaller

Alright it's disclosed. I'm not opposed to disclosing (I'm assuming you know b/c it's been mentioned previously in my profile). But also, I had this viewpoint well before I decided to work at Google this summer for

A take: monopoly in tech is good. Because Google/Amazon/FB have so much money they can do things that push tech forward as a whole. Think about the revolutionary improvements Google has made towards data centers, AWS, and all the

I feel like I'm in the minority here -- but I don't understand the problem. Software developers want to know whether their existing marketing methods are effective. The FB SDK helps with this. You always have the choice to not ins

A benefit of ident: Type is that it allows you to express complex anonymous types. Example from Typescript: const foo: 'A' | 'B' | 'C' = 'A' Which states that foo must belong to the given union type.

I think there's a social element of office work that can't really be replaced with WFH.

It didn't gain traction because iOS killed it. Also "some people" includes everyone who doesn't want to make an iOS app.

Having done native Android/iOS and web dev, web dev is much easier than Android and at least on par/if not easier than iOS. There's a bunch of very complex web/electron apps that disprove the idea that the web is only fo

What I don't understand is, if the Republican party is anti-competitive, why haven't they fought against many of the other monopolies that exist. The targeting of Google is... suspicious.

I feel like this is unrelated to the post, which was not talking about electron apps and was instead talking about the text-based origins of the web, and why that's good.

If someone told me they wrote a neural net in Haskell, my first reaction would be "wow that's Cool!", after all I don't think I can do that. I wouldn't care if the code was gibberish.

This blatant bias against the "coastal elite" (let's be real, there's definitely a political bias to this entire thing) scares me. Then again, I'm working at Google this summer, so maybe I'm biased ...

Maybe it's interesting to know what qsort does under the hood? Maybe you don't know what qsort's time and memory constraints are unless you know the underlying algorithim. Obviously the sorting algorithim you use matters, so
