CEOs apparently don’t bother to share their calendars with ordinary workers, and in many of the times when they do interact with them it feels more like lip services, so it’s natural to assume that they don’t do much. But in reality it must

I’m still resisting the AI flood. I use it but I do read code without its help. I also make sure I have the muscle memory of stuffs that will be tested in interviews — somehow big techs have forgotten that maybe they shouldn’t test people o

Because it is a human business, and human business is always messy and unfair. You are not supposed to get any amount of fairness unless you have the power.

You probably pivoted your career towards the startup space so you found it effortless. For others it is basically a castle with a 20m wall.

I found out that mental status seriously impact it, too. When I’m depressed I keep asking myself why bother losing weight (or anything I was doing that requires some discipline), then I gave up.

This makes me think whether the whole chain is an intelligence side business — sell cheap electronics for profit and at the same time own them too.

This looks familiar. Microsoft had similar experiences back in the early Word and Windows era. Too many bugs and too late to ship.

I actually used it in an interview. I downloaded the csv/parquet file and load it into DuckDB. In the future, I also plan to use it for testing production data pipelines: imagine you have a streaming cdc pipeline running in development

I agree. Not sure whether that was the case for MS-DOS but I’m sure it was useful. Gotta find some time to read some of the code to chill.

I was teaching myself 8086 16-bit assembly a few nights ago on MS-DOS 5.0. It was so much fun getting a color block to display on CGA. Nevertheless, writing system code in assembly was probably going to cause a lot of insomnia and other sid

We don’t have a no-AI policy but I’m trying to hand roll some code, because it is useful for interviews. It is very difficult to memorize the exact syntax unless I hand write code everyday.
