yes, that's a trade-off in this privacy first approach. if several people are on the same ip address, visiting the same website and having the same user agent on the same day, they look the same to us.

server logs are good but unfortunately not very accurate for most site owners thanks to all the bots. with javascript analytics, it's easy to block those logs. i did a study here comparing the numbers between the server and client side

yeah, i understand. we're trying to have a balance between these: 1. privacy of site visitors 2. compliance with privacy regulations 3. useful and actionable data for site owners it's difficult to track people from visit to visit

we have the "top pages" report which includes all the pages users have viewed. you can click on any page to see the full drill down too. we only show browsers at this time but there's been a request to add browser versions to

no. that's the decision we made in order to be as privacy focused as possible. there's no way to know whether the same person comes back to a site the day after or later. they will always be counted as a new visitor after the firs

There may be some like that. But studies have proven that 90%+ people say no to tracking when given a fair chance. So any site that monetizes with personalized advertising banners (or any site that uses tracking such as pixels for marketing

Yeah! And this is the only legit way to do it if you actually follow GDPR. It has to be just as simple and easy to opt out as it is to opt in. But unfortunately most sites that rely on surveillance don't want to give an easy way to opt

Completely agree! Google also plays a part in majority of websites. Pretty much every website has to call at least one if not two or more domains owned by Google. Analytics, DoubleClick, fonts... it's not looking healthy.

Same here. I end up blocking those that I notice using uBlock Origin so they never show up again globally. A simple "live chat" link in the navigation or footer like they've done works so much better than the intrusive popups

So true. Loads very slow as well compared to the old version. I still use old.reddit.com when on desktop and Slide app for Reddit on my phone.
