If anyone's interested in doing the math about the costs involved, I have two quick notes: first, the API Gateway, at $3.50 per million requests, is typically more expensive than the Lambda functions themselves (and comes with no perma

People are rightly warned not to trade in OTC stocks if they don't know what they are doing, but I bet most people understand that warning to be about the companies likely being dodgy rather than about the market itself being rigged. I

The consensus here seems to be that DiIorio got what he had coming for trading in the pink sheets. Fine. But if we accept the premise–that a market maker in penny stocks can sell an essentially unlimited number of shares without ever having

One difference between Linode and providers like AWS is that the typical deployment architecture on Linode still exposes customer VPSes to direct L3 internet traffic whereas on a best-practices AWS deployment that is almost never the case.

So, noisy neighbors mean that you can't get predictable performance from shared dynos; simple math indicates that even one lagging dyno out of 20 will kill your 95th percentile response times. The trouble with the dedicated dynos is th

In my book, the innovation in Lambda is, above everything else, about the billing model. My company moved the work of 40 dedicated servers onto Lambda and in doing so decimated our costs. Paying for 1500 cores (our current AWS limit) in 100

Isn't viable for whom? The $14 billion transacted through App Store payments to date would suggest that plenty of buyers and sellers have opted in to this market. They must realize that credit card processing isn't the only thing

You mention HPC and Big Data processing as use cases for EFS; Lambda is also very well suited for big processing tasks you want to execute quickly with a large amount of concurrency. You often need persistence across executions, for example

CloudFlare uses Comodo certificates–millions of them, I imagine–and that probably makes them a commercially significant Comodo customer. As a CloudFlare customer with a Comodo-issued certificate, I hope they’ll try to convince Comodo of the

This is a very welcome addition. Heroku and CloudFlare are key components of my startup’s infrastructure stack, and for years both of them have positioned simple multi-user access as an "Enterprise" feature. That's been disin

In my personal comparison, a huge factor for RDS and against Heroku is something that I have never seen mentioned in these comparisons: you can run multiple databases on a single RDS instance and you can't do that with Heroku. My compa

If the frame buffer is 8-bit and in P3 color space, doesn't that mean that there are (way) less than 8 effective bits per channel for sRGB content? That seems like a pretty big compromise if true. The P3 iMacs are 10-bit, and there the

It does seem unlikely to that something like this would gain traction among existing task-oriented apps and services, but perhaps that's not the point. To me, the more intriguing question is this: what sort of _new_ task management app

You misunderstand the problem. The issue is that CloudFlare is treating Tor traffic like any other traffic. What you want is special treatment for Tor above and beyond the whitelisting feature CloudFlare already offers to site owners.

Free trials are a must, but you may find that other mechanisms convert better than the Apple-provided one. For example, I would consider offering a free issue on first launch without making the user sign in with their Apple ID and confirmin
