It will fail, this is the last chance for Nokia, I expect them to go out of the smart phone business very quickly.

Let's see how it sells compared to the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3. Everything else is moot.

A catastrophe like this could destroy a company. With all the cloud providers etc there is no excuse for losing a customers data.

I doubt they will change the width, there must be 1000's of apps that will break or look wrong if they change that (without updating).

Isn't Apple looking to ban the S3 in the US? The new iPhone (based on rumour sites) is looking like just a taller version of the current.

Ah right, I though I just sent a link to my system to a couple of rich dudes and my bank account would then become overflowing :-p Joking aside thanks for that, looks like a great way to lplug into the funding network.

Regarding the scaling issue, location is irrelevant nowadays. Anyone can create a massively scalable system using a laptop and an internet connection thanks to services like AWS. I'm sure if a startup looked as if it was becoming a global

These seem to be support groups or clubs rather than places to look for funding, I was thinking more Angel investors or crowd sourcing.

I am based and from Scotland (Glasgow). I have a startup that going to be looking for a first round of funding in the next few months, anyone had experience with this? Is there an equivalent Kickstarter for the U.K.?

I think you have acted foolishly and based on your decision you might not be cut out to run a company. The best strategy would have been to develop a business with your free time after work/weekends until you make enough to support you and

My question is, why isn't Kickstarter International in terms of startups? I am based in the UK and we could do with a successful service like KS here!

How is that different from following geeky twitter users on twitter? Other than you will have orders of magnitude more choice on twitter. I am not being a dick and trying to trash App.net but I can't see it's utility.

For me it doesn't offer anything new, even if it was free why would people use it over twitter which has millions of users and content. I doubt it will succeed unless they rethink it's purpose.

But PG's argument is the Facebook IPO will put off investors investing in __startups__, this is the very definition of early investors, which for facebook has made a few billionaires and many millionaires.

I'm sure Peter Thiel wishes he could go back in time and not invest anything in Facebook, he only turned 500k into over a billion, but if the IPO went better he could have made it to 1.5 billion. I agree all those investors that might have
